The SoL tone it sets early on allows its characters to really get to know one another and form relationships. One of Naruto's biggest failings is that its main characters barely fucking knew or liked each other.

Just compare Team Konohamaru's relationship to Team Kakashi's. Boruto blows Naruto out of the fucking water. And Boruto is a lot closer to his friends than Naruto ever was.

For the manga you just have to read the last few chapters of the movie recap to see the new stuff that was added and everything after that is new content. It kinda made sense though, since it combined Kinshiki's physical traits with Momoshiki's. It's also more animation-friendly compared to Ikemoto's design since there aren't any patterns all over his body. The new design is pretty cool though.
