Also, I'll admit the the second and third points nay be a bit confusing. Determination in and of itself isn't a flaw and should be a good quality of any decent character. That's how it was for Gon in the early portions of the story. But it's because of that determination that he saw to it that he get his revenge on Pitou no matter what, even if he had to kill an innocent person.

when you put it that way he is refreshing, but I just hate how the characters outside his friends see him as this angelic being capable of changing lives by just interacting with him. I'm specifically talking about Shoot and Knuckles.

Then again, it's charisma that attract people to him the same way people in the One Piece World are attracted to Luffy.

Honestly I think Yoh Asakura's laid back personality, after already having gone through his edgy phase in the oneshot, or Kakashi's transition to adulthood, both share a similar relaxed air around them that I really like. Yoh was one of the best main characters stuck in a manga with wasted potential. Gon is just absolutely boring, but it's that plainess that people love about him in his world which I find ridiculous.

Gon's a good kid but even when his personality doesn't make me root for him his powers fail me as well. Killua uses his yo-yos twice, is versatile in fighting so I don't get bored of any of his fights, his introduction to Godspeed ability agains Youpi was extremely well handled. Also seeing him break out of his shell in Chimera Ants to make freinds with Octopus and Palm were endearing. The massacre he went on after all those ants that lead him to the incestous fish couple was great. Kurapika has tons of variety in abilities and character. Leorio is currently underused.

I understand what Gon's personality is going for but he gets outshined by everyone both personality wise and power wise. Even his father is more interesting than him.

At least he isn't as bad as Ichigo but that isn't saying much. It's just irritating to have a manga that's so rich of diverse unique characters and I'm stuck with a boring country kid as a protagonist. Yeah I see the point that it might bring out the traits of everyone that surrounds him, and by being the most normal one, makes him stand out more himself. \

he's a good person, the Gon we see in Chimera Ants is broken because it was the first time he felt responsible for someone's death and blamed it on his own weakness.
Him threatening Komugi's safety was a moment of weakness.

Gon's like Luffy, they both only care about the personal impressions they get from people and their own freedom, but they still stand in the side of good at the very end.
Don't make Gon to be some twisted sociopath when he is able to sympathize with people. He was even angry at the Ryodan for the Kurta massacre and felt conflicted that his view of evil didn't align with the reality he was seeing the the York New arc: The Ryodan acting like a family. A morally twisted character wouldn't feel conflicted in seeing terrible people behave humanely.

Also, Gon takes after his father when it comes to seeing the good in people.
