I've heard the manga didn't do a great job dealing with the ending. I thought Chapter Black was the best arc, followed by the two tournaments; my least favorite was actually the beginning. I liked it a lot more once I got to know the characters and they started working together.

I haven't read the manga, but I heard that the anime actually smoothed it out to make it not a train wreck, I've heard that the author really wanted to end the series and just said fuck it, and the anime actually adds a lot of stuff to make things flow. Also, I'm rewatching it right now, on the episode where the cast teams up for the first time, and I never know how asspully it could be.

On another note, while I do like the tournament the best, I do really like the Sensui arc. I liked how he was always lurking in the shadows like a looming dread, while everyone else did the work for him.

Arc was Togashi trying out new ideas to hit and miss results essentially when Sensui comes into the picture is when the arc falls off a cliff also this is where the art really gets bad.

The actual ending to the manga is shit and was incredibly half assed. The anime made the right choice of ending it right there with Yusuke's return because it doesn't go anywhere after that.
