Holy shit, I'm crying my eyes out, seriously cannot stop it.
I was honestly not expecting the ending to be this good and effectively emotional.
What do you think about Gunbuster's ending?
>>157339071
Now watch Diebuster.
>>157339101
Only if you want to ruin Gunbuster.
Overrated shit
>>157339156
>>157339101
I don't see how it could ruin the great experience I had with Gunbuster.
Is it bad?
>>157339071
Still hold it to be one of the greatest endings in all of anime.
>>157339196
No.
>>157339196
People only say it's bad because it's very different. It's not at all bad, it's actually great. The ending will make you cry all over again too.
>>157339196
Is different.
>>157339196
Diebuster is better than Gunbuster.
>>157339196
It's great and Nonoriri would be proud.
>>157339345
>>157339394
>>157339362
>>157339422
Honestly if it's half as good as this it's already worth a watch.
>>157339196
In my opinion, I think a lot of people disliked it because the tone shifted significantly and a lot of the character drama didn't have nearly as much impact as the original. The art direction and attention to detail was also significantly better. Is Diebuster good? yeah. It doesn't really stand on equal footing to its predecessor though, which makes it a bit of a let down. Things that are good though? Groovin' Magic. The ending is pretty okay too.
>>157339444
It's entertaining in its own ways. Just don't go in expecting things to be exactly like Gunbuster.
>>157339444
Gunbuster is a personal 10/10 for me, but Diebuster (especially towards the end) holds up as a great successor to it in my opinion despite its differences.
>>157339196
not at all. the focus and the drive of the story is not the same as gunbuster, but it can still stand on its own.
the final moments will kick in you in like the way the final moments of gunbuster did
>>157339462
>and a lot of the character drama didn't have nearly as much impact as the original.
why? It's not like there was any lack of it
>>157339442
>>157339462
>>157339466
>>157339612
I'll be sure to watch it then, I had somehow forgotten it was a thing up until now.
Knowing it's so different is even better, trying to make the same thing twice generally doesn't work.
>>157339196
It's better than Gunbuster in most ways possible.
Did it make anyone else think about old friends they lost touch with?
>>157339196
it's very different and not nearly as good as gunbuster
the ending is good thoughbecause it's the same ending from a different perspective
>>157339071
>tfw time dialation could be an analogy for being a NEET
>>157339071
Why is Gunbuster's ending so great? It's so simple, yet it was one of the few that got a response out of me. I think it's the sacrifice; not giving up your life literally but abandoning the world that you've always known. And coming back, you don't know if you succeeded or what humanity has evolved into.
>>157341521
And this is coming right after losing so much already, with the first mission.
Also, Jung, considering she had been by Noriko's side the whole time, seeing her crying alone hit me really fucking hard.
The highlight for me was the Kimiko/Noriko relationship tho.
>>157341005That blew my mind so hard the first time I watched Diebuster. Actually jumped up out of my chair and said "holy shit!"
Best part, easily. The rest of it was something of a letdown given its heritage.
>>157341521
Eventually making your way back home after an obscene amount of time has passed from an outside perspective would be harder than just dying in a blaze of glory and effectively living forever in legends by doing so.
Because once you get back you'll have to deal with whatever your species has become (or not) while you were gone.

>/a/
>friends
>>157339196
Its just different to the point that it might as well have been its own thing. It's only Detraction is its namesake.
Its good, but in its own way.
The thing I didn't like, actually despise was the whole"the power was inside you all along" trope INSTEAD of "hard work and guts to achieve your goals" message that Gunbuster had.
Also script was lacking
...
Its also made by the same team behind Eva 3.33, so take it how you wish. (you will notice similarities with the writing)
>>157347306
>>157347306
Diebuster actually purposefully subverted everything from Gunbuster. I don't have it any more because my old drives died, but some anon wrote out a very good analysis of Diebuster.
>>157347306
But AnonLal'C piloted Dix Nerf with hard work and guts
>>157347568
Such is the nature of you Evaidiots. You will unnecessarily analyze anything related to an Anno work now.
>>157347568
>Diebuster actually purposefully subverted everything from Gunbuster.
I guess? Even if that's the reason; its still stupid and just bad direction.
>>157347706
What hard work did she do? Also I was talking aboutNono.
>>157347753
Anno had nothing to do with Diebuster.
>>157348179
What is it about "anything related to an Anno work" you're too much of an idiot to understand?
>>157339196
Diebuster is good, but the original is much better. Like the Evangelion movies.
>>157348179
Before this turns into a pissing contest, let me explain what the Anon meant.
Gunbuster an Anno work. Diebuster is related to Gunbuster. Diebuster is related to an Anno work; even when Anno didn't work on it.
>>157348997
Did Anno rape you or something? People sure love sperging out about not liking him. He must attract people insecure about their own intelligence or something.
Diebuster is worth watching just for the ending.
The rest of it was pretty ehh, but even though I knew how it was going to jappen, the ending still made me cry.
