I actually think you're onto something here. Especially with the Armored Titan and protecting others theme (Reiner, Falco and Gabi all want to protect/save something). Since the Attack Titan is noted to have a unique trait of its own which is its drive for freedom I think every one of the 9 Titans has its own drives that you described pretty well. I wonder if the shifter that inherits the Titan must also have those traits to be compatible with it? For example, a lack of compatibility means they can't use the Titan's powers fully.

It seems more logical to me that the shifters inherit the personality and drives of the original titans together with their titan ability. Reiner was said to only pick up a reliable personality that cared for others after infiltrating the walls. The narrative and Jaws chalked that up as a conscious decision motivated by guilt for getting the previous Jaws killed, but it's also very likely Reiner was influenced by the armored titan's personality. Which would also explain his mental problems. He probably had difficulty distinguishing and reconciling who he was, both in and out the walls, as well as where the memories and personality of the armored titan started, ended, and fit in the mess that was his head.

In the image we've obviously got Cart, Female, and Armored, and then two unidentified male titans.
It's pretty safe to say that one is the Attack Titan, likely the one at the bottom. Judging by the text talking about the war being fought amongst the other Eight Titans due to the 145th King's actions, I don't think the Founding Titan would be in the picture. Judging on comparative scale, it doesn't look like the Colossal is pictured at all.
Which means the Titan with the hammer and rock is either the Beast, Jaw, or the Ninth unknown Titan. Nothing about him suggests any relation to Jaw, although Ymir didn't look much like it either, to be fair. So either the Beast Titan is only restricted to a monkey form, and his greatest strength is the incredible throwing power and precision granted by his long, powerful arms, or it's the Ninth Titan and the Beast Titan is the horse in the background, meaning different forms can be achieved.

If there are mistranslations, and they definitely do mistranslate things, then they fix it. Things like them calling Katakuri in One Piece Dogtooth aren't good and obviously the guys who worked on Bleach added their own spin on what was said, but for the most part they do a fairly good job translating. Obviously the translated volumes are better, but until they come out MS are the best option.
