What does /a/ think about Battle Angle Alita and BAA: Last Order?

BAA is really good, outside of the ending. Great characters, great world.

Last Order is definitely not as bad as people say, but its not as good or good in the same ways as BAA. The first few volumes add a ton of good world building, but ZOTT takes way too long ontop of drawing out so many fights. Alita also dies like twice and gets revived twice, one of which is in the "final" battle that took like a full volume.
The whole volume of vampire shit was stupid as fuck but needed to introduce Arthur, could have been done in a better way maybe.
Also the art has gotten much worse from BAA's mid/late volumes and all of Last Order and Mars War Chronicles.

If you like a battle manga then I thought ZOTT had alot of neat fights and introduced alot of characters that I thought I wouldn't have liked as much as I did.

Gally is wonderful.

Hopefully the Cameron movie will spark renewed interest in Japan and we can get a full anime of the original manga.

Pretty sure Cameron isn't doing the movie anymore, and it was ALWAYS going to be a rollerball movie rather than a BAA movie. Would just use some of volume 1 and 2, but focus on rollerball for AWESOME CGI and not go anywhere else.

Baa is goat... it is just that the author got scared of dying and rushed the ending. Then he said canon ending was in the video game. Then he said the canon ending was in Last vampire Order. Then he said the canon ending was in Marsian Chronicles.

I'm done with Alita. She is resting in peace at the end of Baa, no amount of undead magic trickery or arthurian reference is going to bring her back to her former glory.

ZOTT had some interesting fights and characters but was too long and full of strange twists.
Nothing will beat rollerball arc and its conclusion though.

Oh, right, Gunnm was about Gally, almost forgot that in Mars Chronicles.

I liked both the original and LO. Overall LO has a totally different feel than the original and I can see how fans of the original mood the manga had dont like it but i still do.
Mars Chronicle has too little of Alita.

Kishiro's biggest mistake in LO and MC was making the story more about the setting and less about Gally. Gally's character arc in the orginal manga was perfect (apart from the ending, but what can you do), there really wasn't much else that needed to be done after that. Having her stick around in LO and the rest almost seemed like a waste of her character, it almost feels like a separate series especially in Sech's and Zekka's scenes during the ZOTT. Maybe it would've been better off as an unrelated story, who knows.

It's not even comparable. It doesn't even adapt 1/9th of it, does it badly, and still manages to be half filler. Also Gally looks like shit compared to in the manga.

Battle Angel Alita was a masterpiece aside from anything having to do with romance with Alita. Neither of the two guys she was somehow interested in deserved her.

Last Order has some cool stuff, but overall it's a tournament arc that's not particularly interesting for the most part and is a huge downgrade from the original series. I still need to read the last bit though, but I think I was pretty close to where it ended.

I felt LO's ending was kinda meh. It makes sense there's two Gallys, and it does close the book on F4 and Ido, but I didn't like the whole perfect life for one, suffering for the other thing.

This, basically. I recently re-read Last Order and it worked better as a finished story, when you don't have to wait for new chapters and wade through the ZOT tournament. I love almost all of the new characters and the expanded world but it's still a pretty flawed story that really drags on at times.
