Pick your poison.
>but can't help thinking there's a catch.
Just watch the movie
Is there really a The Who song as the opening? MAL says so but I haven't found any mention of it anywhere else.
Yes, I dread how the threads of the new Kino no Tabi will be infested by retarded crossboarding memespouters like you.
Your kind isn't welcome here. Fuck off to your cesspool home board.
Both are bitches but Ueno is FAAAAAR better than Kawai. She's also more explored in the movie and tries to be better, unlike kawai who's just keeps on pretending to be the victim.
I don't even know where to begin with with such senseless generalizations.
"Film is the realm of artists" would be the norm and not the exception according to you, I wonder in what fantasy realm do you live.
You might find their art tasteless or commercially-inclined but that doesn't invalidate it's classification. Television shows exist to sell the advertisements that are interspersed throughout their running time. That is a fact. A film needs to sell itself.
"It's a fantastic piece of work. Handled with such earnestness and care, the work successfully depicted a beautiful range of art, colors, and emotions. It was a polished and grand production, that, no matter how much you wanted to replicate, simply can't. Although everyone in the cast is wonderful, personally I was awestruck with Irino Miyu's (Shouya's) acting. It's amazing."
-Makoto Shinkai on Koe no Katachi
Also, I remember people not understanding that Bitch Mom ripped her earring out at first
Leaving aside the fact that many of the big blockbusters that make most of the revenue of western cinema nowadays make most of their profit by selling merch, while premium television has no advertisement and makes a profit through subscriptions so by selling the show and nothing else, I hope you realize that the mean in which the profit is made doesn't make by itself one artform more artistic driven than the other in any way whatsoever. What you're sputing is dogmatic nonsense.
>Leaving aside the fact that many of the big blockbusters that make most of the revenue of western cinema nowadays make most of their profit by selling merch
Gimme the stats on that NOW
Who are the Bergman, Tarkovsky, Kubrick, Ozu, Mizoguchi, Bresson, Godard of television?
In anime's context, most of the big directors stick to film and those who don't also tend to produce their most interesting productions on film like Miyazaki, Takahata, Oshii, Kon. In the case of Anno and Ikuhara, no one can argue against End of Evangelion and Adolescence of Utena being their most creative and experimental work or Golgo 13: The Professional and Space Adventure Cobra for Dezaki or Mind Game for Yuasa. Television is is hindered by bloated pacing, rough scheduling, animation downtimes, redundant visual language and the overall artistic vision being diluted or restrained in most cases.
And it's not just about the profit it's about the freedom of content and expression that is hamstrung by networks being very mindful of what they put on the air and how it is consistent with the kind of brands they advertise with. It's all interconnected and since one brings in the money, it's that which takes precedent, meaning the other one, the show, has to fall in line. It's why they're all the same cookie-cutter shit with no actual risk-taking.
The closest you can argue is David Chase, a film guy who hated TV and only did TV because he couldn't break into the movies. David Simon too, but his work was more journalistic than filmic.
>Who are the Bergman, Tarkovsky, Kubrick, Ozu, Mizoguchi, Bresson, Godard of television?
So first you talk about Cinema being ineherently superior in almost every case, then you mention exceptions that makeamounts up an insignificant amount of the movies produced, unlike the examples I posted? You seem confused.
>Television is is hindered by bloated pacing
Right, because the longer runtime can only result in worse pacing, it can't be an advantage depending on the material you work with.
>It's why they're all the same cookie-cutter shit with no actual risk-taking.
More meaningless generalizations combined with ignorance regarding commercial meddling that happens all the time in cinema as well.
No, this is retarded. Maybe if you only care about capeshit and big budget garbage. But the best films tend to be indie ones, or ones that don't make much use of their budget outside of hiring actors.
The most important thing about the quality of a piece is how its story is created. Films tell much better short stories and can help convey a message in a short amount of time without seeming too condescending. This allows them to excel at "deeper" things, since there is little time to explain symbols, or little time to tire the audience with the themes. TV, on the other hand, is more suited towards longer stories. Character-driven pieces with multiple characters, stories that cover many themes, etc, etc.
For example, The Young Pope is a perfect TV series. It tells a serialized story, it touches the themes it wants to, it's excellently crafted, well acted, etc, etc. It would not work as a film and, as a whole, the series is superior to many films.
They aren't exceptions, there are hundreds of auteurs working in cinema whereas you'd struggle to even name auteurs in television who aren't filmmakers in the first place (Lynch, Kieslowski, Fassbender). Television disregards the sensuous, tactile, poetic, ambiguous, indivisible medium-specific elements of cinema to ape a lazy, visually uninteresting audiovisual equivalent of novels incorporating long-form narratives as well as the outdated values of classic Hollywood cinema depending on the strengths of the script and acting. These are heralded by those who believe in the fallacies of length = depth and have little cinematic literacy. It's often built around vulgar realism rather than the more manipulated spatial-temporal conditions in films (like a person's coming of age portrayed in a continuous three hours compared to one done in six seasons, separated by episode chunks and commercials).
She did nothing fucming wrong, not sure why people dislike this cutie. She's both intelligent and beautiful.
I feel like the only people who dislike her are disabillity-fetishists and retards.
God I fucking hate these filters. They hurt my eyes. Chromatic aberration has to be the worst meme filter yet. Literally not a single good reason to have it.
It's been too long, friend. You're waifu still a shit, though
Well, I enjoyed the movie for what it was I guess. There's no denying that it was beautiful, and Yamada really is a top tier director.
It felt super lacking when you compare it to the manga though. Everyone besides Shoko and Shoya felt like a shadow of their manga versions. Hell, you could have taking Mashiba, Kawai and Sahara out and it wouldn't have made any impact on the movie.
They should have, honestly.
Mashiba really only works in the context of the movie, and Kawai never really got developed. Even her brain problems were ancillary.
Sahara could stay. She represents the fact that some people were positively affected by Shouko
They were characters in the Manga, so they had to show.
Honestly, if I had to make a Koe no Katachi movie, I'd just do the One-Shot with some of the Family stuff thrown in from the serial.
Your favorite autistic little witch.
Can we all agree that despite any shortcomings, this movie did at least give us Yuuki Aoi's best role.
Everything except the first and second volumes, also some parts from volume 5 and 6. Characterization honestly felt very weak and bare bones, even for Shoko and Shoya. It looks pretty for the most part but it's just a meh movie.
I might be confusing volumes, they didn't cut literally everything off of the volumes I didn't mention but they did cut out a lot. Some things felt like they were there for no reason other than fanservice I guess. Like none of the subplots or side characters developed, but they were there.
I think Ooima sort of ran out of time.
I still think she did a good job with her first serial. Shouko truly is a treasure
Uh, I'm sure it's great.
Isn't it a scifi?
I didn't even know it existed
Because she never did anything wrong. She didn't have to apologize for anything.
yeah I agree but it's some how a unfair comparison since they're two different mediums.
It's a lot easier to get into filming a live action tv, web or indie film than to complete a animated short to competent level.
Also the cost associated with film(8-16mm) or dlsr is alot cheaper.
This is all due to the cost & time required to make a animation and how the market is gear'd towards usual typical anime crap. But that being said japan does makes a hella alot of redundant series that are forgotten after the season has ended which is a big waste of capital imo. So this is a perfect play ground for produces to experiment more interesting IP to adapt but that is not gonna happen any time soon. Too many of the old guards acting as roadblocks and JP bureaucratic thinking.
I can forgive the shit she did during grade school, because kids are fucking monsters. However, even after growing up, she still is a violent psycho and hates Shouko for literally no reason, despite the person she "loves" making every effort to atone for his mistakes regarding that person. Seriously, her reason for hating her is that she still thinks that he's being fucking played and deceived. Like Kawai, she doesn't believe she did anything wrong when bullying a deaf person, and only feels bad for being a weak piece of shit and bullying MC.
She got close to redeeming herself when she called Kawai out of her bullshit, but then threw it all away by beating the shit out of someone who already wanted to kill themselves, mostly for things that were Ueno's fault.
It might have been in there I don't remember, but I think deep down she knew that Shoko didn't do anything wrong at all, but instead of getting mad or even, she apologized for making other people angry just for existing. This frustrated the fuck out of Ueno who probably wanted to get her shit kicked in by Shoko, but instead got beat up by her mom.
Ueno should have been dragged into an alley and raped.
Ueno was just a kid, she regrets what she did, bullying Ishida, but she was just firm that if Shouko didn't transfer to their school this never would have happened.
Look, it's wrong but the essence of the entire movie is that all of them had attitude problems. People get bullied for the stupidest reasons.
She hated how passive Shouko was and she was angry that Ishida almost died saving her.
Like in another scenario imagine if someone was gonna commit suicide by gun, but then a friend of yours came to save them and ended up accidentally shot.
That would totally piss you off.
Yeah pretty much Ueno would have found it much easier if Shouko at least resented her.
Actually doesn't the manga show that except for the time with the blackboard she never bullied Ishida, she just bullied Shouko.
Yeah but the fact still remains that she was silent when Ishida was bullied, and that she also participated with the blackboard thing.
Ueno pretty much regrets how she was silent about Ishida's bullying and how bad their relationship got because of it. And she blamed it mostly on Shouko
Actually I feel that Ueno knows that it isn't Shouko's fault, but she can't stop hating Shouko. Therefore she at least wants Shouko to hate her back so that her feelings can be justified.
The post beating chapter always made me feel that she knew what she was doing wasn't right just that she couldn't stop.
All of them are indefensible in your opinion then, anon because all of them had faults.
That's the point of the entire manga, Literally the title even tells you the point, everybody has their own voice, both good and shitty.
Ueno. She gave me a raging boner. Everytime she appear on screen, her thighs always show up first, there are a lot of shot focus on her plump thigh too.
The slut is perfect for hatefuck.
Yes they were, Shimada, Ishida, Ueno, and especially Kawai, and it all revolved on Shouko who kept blaming herself. Kawai was the absolute worst, worst girl and worst bitch, I hate her.
They all had faults, but I think Ueno was the only real piece of shit for denying that she was in the wrong until the very end.
Ironically, I get the feeling she's going to end up marrying Ishida somehow. Am I the only one who think that?
It's certainly not impossible, but I have my severe doubts.
Also Ueno knows she's in the wrong. She even admits she was in the wrong when it came to Ishida and if you read carefully you'll notice that she knows she's in the wrong with Shouko.
>It's certainly not impossible, but I have my severe doubts.
I don't know. There is a reason he never replied to Shoko's confession (unless I missed it). And he did have some weird chemistry going on with Ueno.
He didn't know Shouko confessed to him.
He also was actually friends with Ueno so it makes sense they have chemistry, but even Ueno realizes she'll lose the Shouyabowl.
At least she and Shouko are something resembling friends towards the end.
>He didn't know Shouko confessed to him.
I think he did realized it before he had the accident. I watched it without subs and my nip is rusty so I could be wrong though.
>At least she and Shouko are something resembling friends towards the end.
I don't think so. The movie just kinda brushed the whole thing off with a "cute" scene. It doesn't change anything though.
>not even a good raw rip out yet
>bait is already being churned out in large numbers
Stop picking on Yamada
Ueno is all like "I know I'm doing a bad thing channeling all my anger at Shoko, but IT FEELS SO DAMN GOOD."
Kawai is all "I get to do all the shit I want because I'm a girl and I can use that so that others can defend me."
Both of them have problems, really. Ueno at least has control of her emotions, while Kawai is the healslut that ruins every guild she joins.
>that disgusting fucking bokeh and focus
I don't know when this trend began with high-budget anime, but it needs to fucking stop.
They need to take a photography class or something because this technique is grossly misused.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/ksbwsu48r7tdhs4/%5Bwounraw%5D_Koe_no_Katachi_%281280x720_x264_AAC%29.mp4 Gift for you all.
what would you reply /a/non?
yes, but the voice acting and music in the rest of the other scenes were heart breaking
I fucking teared up many times, especially when shouko talking with her cute deaf voice while crying herself
Those people are Yamada fanboys, or sakuga guys who only care about visual quality. Or they're normies who instantly love any melodrama that makes them cry.
I still find it hard to believe that the movie improves much on the mediocre manga.
What do you call the technique KyoAni uses where a shot skips a few frames and the camera's position changes slightly?
You can see it in the K-On OP
>hates Shouko for literally no reason, despite the person she "loves" making every effort to atone for his mistakes regarding that person.
>Hates for no reason, despite the following being the reason she hates.
You don't understand young girls at all, do you?
There is one single scene in manga that showed her realizing other people didn't view her as highly as she viewed herself (basically she viewed herself unironically good person while most classmates actually saw what she was aka selfish bitch but kept quiet about it). Other than that she was never punished.
Shouya tried to make peace with everyone even the cunt teacher and old classmates that didn't give shit about him (in contrast with Ueno and those two fags that seem to regret it). The moral of this story seem to be forgive-and-forget just so you could be happy with your life. The one who actually seek justice (Mashiba) ended up losing his goal and seem to be relatively unhappy compare to other characters.
I think the most unrealistic thing was her getting on board the bully train despite having a big crush on him. If you really like some dude/gal then you probably tried to help him or at least didn't join the bullying so casually.
>she should realize she's projecting her shit on Shoko because she doesn't have the balls to face her own flaws
Yeah, she should. It's called character development, or more specifically, growing the fuck up.
>Kyoani make Ueno 100x hotter than she is in the manga
>anons are willing to overlook her scumbag actions due to her enhanced appearance
Even Kawai looks kinda cute, but I'd even go far to say that she is more rotten to the core than Ueno.
She is supposed to be very hot in the manga too, just the art was kinda crude and doesn't convey it very well.
Just look how much cuter Shouko is in the movie. Kyoani made the art look better overall
I can't blame them in this case. The early manga was based around romance baiting, and that's why it became popular with a lot of people. It's shitty that it later pretends that it was never supposed to be about the romance.
by "developed" I mean the confession
It showed she's a normal teengirl and want a boyfriend
doesn't necessary became a real relationship
I watched it, she's still fake as fuck in the end.
Ueno knew she was a shitty person and did try to overcome her flaw but didn't succeed because her own weakness. She even tried to make amend with Shokou but end up slapping her anyway for example. In the end it somewhat implied she was now on the good term with both Shokou and the tall girl though.
Kawaii lack "insight" about her own shittiness, a sign of personality disorder (probably some spectrum of narcissism/histrionic). In her chapter she was pretty shocked at just the sign of her classmates not liking her. After that however her problem was swept under the rug and it seem she still continue her self delusion for probably the end of her life.
>The only reason she had smaller boobs is because her family is poor.
Like I said, I didn't read the manga. Aren't we talking about the movie here anyway? She never tried to make any amends with Shoko in the movie.
And as for Kawaii, she wasn't even that bad in the movie. Just somewhat two-faced. Sure that's shitty, but not nearly as much as being a violent bitch.
>Just somewhat two-faced.
sure made, like singly hand called out Shouya "hey everybody this nigga is a bully" "btw I did nothing wrong" in front of his class, again, thus triggered his break down on the bridge
truly minor things
>I can't blame them in this case
>It's shitty that it later pretends that it was never supposed to be about the romance
>that's why it became popular with a lot of people
>blatant friendship centric story
Stupid shippers. I blame Disney.
>[Beatrice-Raws] Koe no Katachi [BDRip 1920x1080 x264 FLAC]
The worst part about movieonlyfags is that they will never reach the appropriate levels of disdain for Kawai.
That's something that makes me like the lack of proper resolution even more.
Had they spared something like two pages in the chapter where they talk about their future plans on the bridge to address the confession that scene would've had way more impact.
that went quick
Ending a shit like the manga. Why didn't they make an original movie ending?
It's wrong to ask in this board full of virgins.
Were any of the super speed signing in the movie? And the mom bitchslaps?
Why is the sound always so fucking low in BD rips. Thank Christ for audio boost in MPC.
you sure? I mean Your Name barely has any doujins, but things way smaller than Your Name has a fuck ton of doujins. We just have to hope that enough degenerate doujin authors finds deaf girls and bullies hot enough
I mean there is a hella shot for an NTR doujin where Ueno steals Shoya from Nishimiya, making her watch or some shit but literally unable to speak up. some I have no mouth and I must scream type of shit
because she looks exactly and I mean exactly like hot bitch from Kyoukai no kanata
So there is a few more
perufagshere than i thought, good to see you here niggas.
cinepoliswill add another week I wanna see it again santa anita mallwas more decent than I thought
