The ending was great because it aligned with Yoh's personality. Yoh was a loving person who wanted to save people not kill them. In the end he saved Hao in his own way.

In the epilogue our main characters say that 7 years have passed and they realized that they can't fix shit and start to think that Hao was right until Yoh shows up and says "Everything will work out somehow"

The message of the ending was that no matter how hard things get there will be a solution and that we just have to keep working at it
It was an optimistic uplifting message which I like delivered in a rather unique fashion

Flowers just ruined everything by shitting on the original cast and making everything into a pessimistic drab that no doubt edgyfaggots will enjoy but as someone who enjoyed the OG series for it's optimistic nature I absolutely loathe Flowers

It took me a while to reconcile the ending chapter. Without absolute power such that the SK would provide, it really is impossible for a single person to change things the way they want. Likewise, the best way for someone to live their life isn't an easy answer and each person has their own. The final words by Manta and Yoh have really echoed into my adult years I'm almost 30, just now getting back into college after dropping out 2 years ago. Life hasn't been rough but I'm not feeling fulfilled. Feels like I'm stuck looking for the same answers to life that I started pondering a decade ago.

"Keep searching for your answer" and remember "Everything will work out". Really it's those words of Optimism that Takei had been had been writing for the entire series that took on a new life when I go back and re-read the series.

Shaman king has always evoked some strong emotions when I read it; yeah the ending sequence and final boss rush is poorly executed, the series has some problems with power levels and wankery, and it can't decide how many flashbacks Horo Horo needs; but that last chapter does make up for some of it. It's a damn shame that Takei decided to shit on his own legacy by undermining the themes of his previous works and taking the characters in a way that seems very disrespectful. I'm glad it got canned just so that more damage couldn't be done.

Depending on if you like intricate world building or not, you might have a small problem with it. And then of course, you have to account for the possibility of you not liking the manga at all.

Shaman King and the system its world operates under feels kind of "half there", you know? It's hard to describe. But see, where as you could consider that a fault, in the context of Shaman King's narrative and its characters, I came to found it was a part of the charm. It's fitting that a series about ghosts is half-there.

The problem with the final boss rush is that it's the epitome of what's wrong with some of the workings of the series. People die but we just burn our revives, doing so sidelines strong characters like Jean and just created false hype because in hindsight, Hao was always going to ascend right after Rutheford's battle.

Yes the final boss rush gives us some resolution for three characters and their related Patch members, but it is so rushed that I lose some of the weight of it.
