Casshern Sins was the single most artistic and daring entry in the franchise. Also we are finally getting a good Devilman anime.

Yamamoto in the original was basically just a "Hey, we need to give lines to a generic pilot" guy. He didn't have any plotlines or anything, and in the original series only had lines for one scene.

In the 2nd series, he just happened to be featured when they needed a generic pilot for some scenes and most of them involved bad things happening to him, like getting his fighter stolen twice.

I guess they could have just created an original character, but then I guess people would complain about her overshadowing the pilot from the original series.
