Drama is like, the most popular trope though. It's simple drama involving common teenage emotions that evolves into disaster drama (everyone knows what it's like to be scared).
It's not like the drama from, say, Evangelion that deals with very specific mental issues that most normal people aren't going to deal with.

It's a really simple film all in all. Not something you really need to pay attention to to enjoy. Not saying it's a bad thing, of course.

I will never understand why some people treat this like the Second Coming of Christ. Having watched the movie I agree with the creator. It's good but it isn't flawless and far from a masterpiece.

It's a disaster movie packaged in a really awful romance where montages and stock cliched dialogue is enough to mean 'hey look, they love each other now!'

I remember when I once questioned how they fell in love and some anon offered to explain it to me through what happened in the novelisation. If you need a 300 page novel to do what could have been done in a 2 hour movie that really goes to show how poor the relationship development is.
