French is used quite a bit for fancy idioms, characters with French backgrounds, "visiting Paris" episodes, and all that.

Right now Gosick comes to mind, sice it takes place in a fictional country between France, Switzerland and Italy, where French is the official language.
>>
>>157114523
That's the fact, usually (Vietnamese cartoons speaking) you see more of a spaghettiboo feeling. You don't hear italian in animu that much because most of their fetish for us is mostly limited to weird products of the boot shaped land, not about the place itself. It feels strange, but i suppose this is what waboonism is about.

Also i believe their analness into speaking latin based languages is accents related. They have some of those sound and use only them because they have no way to know what "e,é,è" to use.

>He was thinking of making another fashion that spoke french when he had his original plans to continue it for 10 years but that went to shit.
Pitty Kubo got sick and Bleach got rushed.
I wouldn't have minded a bunch a Japanese seiyuu trying to speak French while looking all smug.
>>
>Norwegian
I have never heard nor seen it.

Sadly, yes. It's tolerable if it's 1 word in a Japanese song but if they try to speak German in the anime itself, good help me.

I don't think tagalog is ever spoke on anime history but nips could theoretically speak it with relative ease.

Yeah, and the little Greek, Latin, French and English in Bible Black, written or spoken, were fucking terrible, too.

Spanish is fine though, probably because they only used three words.

I remember Bleach having at least two very basic misconceptions about gender and singular/plural while speaking Spanish/Castilian.

I guess?
Well, several European languages influenced Japanese during the last five centuries, but IIRC the Portuguese made first contact with them.

I don't think that's what Anon meant. Instead, he/she was saying that Japanese and the Romance languages branch of the Indo-European family share many sounds.
But, as I pointed out before, this is true only for "hiragana/katakana sounds", when Indo-Europeans use 2, 3 or even 4 consonants in a row the Japanese get their tongues scrambled.

>I guess Colombia is the most neutral one, see samurai X and others dubs
You might be onto something here. I'm an Argenfag and I remember playing MMORPGs with two Colombian guys for weeks and weeks in Argentinian servers. No talking, all text, but still... I never suspected they were from another country until they told me so (I detected some "awkward" words but I attributed that to being from some province distant to Buenos Aires).
I also know of two guys who married Colombian girls, so I guess there's some chemistry going on.
Because we Argentinians are sort of picky about the countries we relate to.

I can only think of two other times the Philippines or a cultural export of the Philippines has popped up in anime--that one episode of Charlotte and San Miguel beer in GITS. Ignoring xenophobia towards SE Asians, I bet Tagalog and the other languages don't sound cool enough for them.
>>
>>157136859
Just curious does malay and tagalog sound similar to non-speakers?
>>
>>157137289
My Tagalog's rough I'm forgetting it over time and it's the shittiest feeling, but while Malay doesn't sound much like Tagalog, I have to take a second glance at written Malay because how syllables are similarly clustered when written in the Roman alphabet.

I literally can't watch anime if it isn't English dubbed, I literally FUGGING crawl out of my skin! Toradora! for instance, was the BEST dubbed anime and after that I could never go back to the cold, dry subtitles that are usually first run of the muck translation. UGH, GRODIE!

Y'know, I Don't think I've ever heard English spoken fluidly in a Japanese anime.
They drop one off words like, seasoning to spice up a sentence for I guess novelty's sake.

Otherwise it's a chopped up mess.
