Nah, one of the main themes of Overlord is that Ainz's plans and ambitions are meaningless.

All of Ainz's actions are based on preparing against enemy players that do not actually exist. His motivation to maintain Nazarik is based upon nostalgia for his old teammates, who don't give a shit about Nazarik anymore and would prefer for him to move on with his life instead. There's only one person he could be doing all this stuff for -- himself. Yet ironically this same selfish quest makes him miserable and he would be far happier and more fulfilled if he gave up on it. The whole series is a tragic self-created conflict that Ainz could solve if he ever introspected on it and learned to finally let it go.

It's the reason why there's only one conflict that makes sense in this series: Ainz VS Nazarik itself. This battle is already fought metaphorically every volume, but by the end of the series I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a literal and physical fight. After all, no other viable enemy exists in this world. This is a lesson that Ainz re-learns every volume, despite wishing with all his strength it wasn't so.

It's one of the better isekai novels I've read. It gets boring during the lizards volume, but it picks back up again (something really cool happens roughly every 3 volumes).

I am not a purist that tends to like the novels better than the manga, I think the overlord manga did the right thing to skip a lot of stuff. But some important moments were indeed done better in the novel. My favorite moment in the series so far, which is Ainz' conversation with Albedo in the mausoleum, was slightly longer in the novel and so the anime failed to convey it 100% right.

In that sense, I was reading a research article by a dig team in america who were investigating a new floor of an entire block of buildings. It seems the original first floor level of the block, and likely other blocks around it, had been completely submerged in mud at some point, and the city just built over it. Those were my exact expectations going in, but it was surprisingly enjoyable.

Probably the thing I like about it most is that the protagonist can't actually talk and only communicates via six pre-recorded messages like welcome, please insert coins or congratulations you win another one etc.

At one point he upgraded himself with a digital screen that could display letters to improve his ability to communicate, but it turned out that he could only display the same six phrases he was actually able to say.

It's going downhill now in my opinion, but for about 40-45 chapters or so it's pure gold so I definitely recommend it.
