Although the whole thing was a dumb idea anyway. Revolution didn't know if it wanted to be a sequel or reboot with the way it kept giving exposition about stuff the characters AND audience should know. Evolution-R avoided that, but it still was a rehash of a past story with the Rezo thing all over again.

"canon" is not a term that means much in Slayers since their world set up as a multiverse. According to KanzakaDex Kanzaka still reviewed the scripts for Try as he did for every other adaptation

I have only seen the original series and NEXT. What else is worth watching? I have heard the next series of the anime is a drop in quality.

I think Try is still worth watching. I just didn't like the filler episodes in second half of the season; most of them weren't funny and they were such a drastic departure from the seriousness of the main plot that it felt like tonal whiplash. I also didn't like that so much time was spent on original characters (Valgaav, Jillas, Filia) that took away from the main characters who are my main reason for watching Slayers.

I doubt there will ever be more Slayers anime since the last two sold poorly. What I'm holding out hope for is more manga as that would be a lot easier to produce. Most of the spin-off manga have also been pretty good. The Revo/Evo manga were far better than their anime counterpart, and I liked Falshes for being able to incorporate both sets of companions from the first and second halves of the main series. There's no reason they couldn't adapt into manga the remaining LNs that never made it into Super Explosive Demon Story, or come up with an original storyline as they did in Falshes.
