The whole purpose of this arc is to juxtapose Deku and Mirio, who has been touted as the better successor. Deku has to prove that he is worthy of OfA. Cronostasis in the part of the loving "hip" mother who is not going to just be at home and cook. Cronostatus is the dog/cute mascotte of the whole serie.

The pilot episode is about overhaul making a huge ass "princess" birthday party for eri, but she's too old for that!
After a wacky and crazy 15 minutes adventure of overhaul at the local mall (followed by his dumbo brother, the electric dude) everything is solved in the last 5 minutes by cronostasis.

The last thing we see is the two girls of the show taking overhaul's credit card from his hands "let's have a Real birthday'" as they go to the mall to shop for clothing, leaving the boys to clean the childish decorations.
