I try and avoid using that word but this is by far the clumsiest thing Togashi wrote regarding Nen abilities. We know that people can have stuff that lingers on but the one character we see do it, the one that did it off screen, and the guy that was most likely assumed to be able to do it (Kurapika) all had one thing in common.

A burning desire or thought that could easily mutate after death. Pitou wanted to protect Mereum so much she used her ability to reanimate corpses on herself post-humously to fight Gon. The Meteor city elder hated the world so much he made a suicide bomber ability and even after death the ability lingered on in Chrollo's binder. Kurapika hated the spiders so much that it was feared that if he died the chain in Chrollo's heart would mutate and kill him. All of these make sense.

What was Hisoka's burning passion? "Lol I fucked up, guess I'd better try this out".

Togashi should have had him survive the bomb some other way or never put him in that situation in the first place. As it is that fight ended in a way that left a sour taste in my mouth.

The problem with "Oh my rubber Nen" is that there is no real buildup to this. Hisoka is such a cocky asshole that death has probably never seriously occured to him. At least not in a way that is significant to the reader. So I really find it hard to believe that he's pulled off something that has been previously established to require a really strong will to carry out.

I don't Hisoka treated him dying as easily as you think he did. You can see a subtle change in his demeanor post revival and how he decides not to let the opponent decide the venue and rather kill them off when they least expect it. Very un-Hisoka like.
