Eh, Tomoya's life was turning up with Nagisa as an emotional support. Not a wealthy life but it's not like any of them wanted that to begin with.

His dad did what he could. Tomoya became a rebellious asshole on his own even before the accident, and in the end he was much worse than him by neglecting his daughter and leaving her with the grandparents. At least his dad stuck with him until he got big before losing to the grief of losing his wife and the disappointment of an ingrate son.

And she was weak to begin with, despite that she wanted the baby and was retarded enough to not want to give birth in a well equiped hospital with an ICU.

Sure there were a lot of errors in that relationship but they were for stupid drama's sake.

This was one of the improvements in the anime, I think. They decide not to do the home birth and go to a hospital instead but get snowed in when she goes into labor early. In the game it doesn't snow or anything; they just decide to do the home birth which is fucking retarded since she is already weak and her physical condition is clearly deteriorating.
