Subs in 30 minutes.
I gotta say, the way that Yusaku was described all those months ago and the way he actually is now doesn't really match, and I'm glad for it.
I was expecting a shy inexperienced doofus and instead we got someone closer to Yusei.
Shoichi seems like great bro material for Yusaku. How old do you think Shoichi is? 25?
What if Aoi
wears a Sarashi to keep the Blue Angels down
There was obviously something going on internally, what with such a long gap between the reveal and more news content, as well as it being delayed a month, and most of the VAs are rookies or reused.
>watched the raw
>the animation was so massively shit I have no desire to watch the subbed version
We get a recurring enemy who uses Digital Bugs
>reminder it took a whopping 21 animators to work on this episode which is why it looked bad
>that means they're rushing to get the episode done and there are behind the scenes troubles in production
>there is no movie or anything else to hurt VRAINS animation
What went wrong?
I'm assuming the underfunded animation is a result of bad reviews for ARC-V + some other business-related matters, which probably explains why the animation staff is so small right now.
>he use the synchro variant against all odds
Forget Blue Angel. Aoi is where it's at.
haever, I', still gonna bring up DM,GX,5Ds,Zexal and Arc-V mems and characters here. Vrains isn't interesting to me at all nor is Yusaku's deck especially since they had to nerf everybody else to give his method a shot.
Pendulums were half-spell monsters, Synchro's were stuff regarding frequency, Links are cybernetic. Baka.
As dumb as it sounds: Pendulums were "purified" monsters that oscillates between evil (monsters) and nature (spell/magic).
Link are data/Links to data and probably will "link" to the Cyberse World.
Nope, seems bro knows but act indifferent so she beats up people to make her brother respect her or some shit, kinda like Rio constantly put up the tough girl act for Ryouga but always needed to be saved at most and freaking dies at worse. Luna and Rua they are not. Probably more like Joey and Serenity in the manga.
This series has potential. A few things that bothered me this ep:
1.) The animation is really bad. It needs to improve quickly.
2.) Knights of Hanoi being showed as blatantly evil by having Cracking Dragon incinerate people's avatars in the VRAINS world. They would have been more interesting as a grey-area organization.
3.) This is an extension of the first issue but once Playmaker was inside the VRAINS world, they just switch locations in an instant and it wasn't explained except by a falling down animation from the Hanoi mook. There was no sequence and no scene change or purpose behind it.
4.) The fat guy's design is absolutely retarded and watching him brings me physical pain.
Funding is rarely the issue in general, and Konami is their sponsor so I doubt it's really the money. Scheduling tends to get a lot more whack and more easily displaced than just money problems.
You're also talking out of your ass if you think 21 animators on 1 episode is 'small'. There were also 3 animation directors assigned to this episode (usually it's just 1, two at the most), which is often a sign of production troubles and rushing to get it out the door.
Yet she made no effort to alter her face or speaking habits. Anybody who hasa family member knows you can tell who they are even if they try to trick you with a voice changer and a baggy outfit.
I think they look different enough
I think it's a lot better than the last series, honestly. He's an idiot, but in a good way. Serves as comic relief. Futoshi is just autistic.
My calculations in a transversal study show that Anna is better than Kotori
>had that shit downloaded in 2 minutes
>made at least 5 seeds while watching it
Feels good not having a
People like you shoulf take responsibility over your deeds
>There no duel in this ep so no reason to put high effort to make good animation.
It's the premiere of the show and the first episode, anon. In anime where first impressions matter a lot, there's almost no better reason to pump in the best animation they've got if they could.
>Arcvfags want this show to fail.
There may be others retarded enough to want that, but I sure don't. It would only result in having one thing less to enjoy and everyone in the threads being negative all the time.
I also wanted a duel, but I think it was cool to introduce the characters and setting before the action. They want vrains to be more story based and I hope that means the duels will be more impactful if they aren't as common as the rest of the series
>They want vrains to be more story based and I hope that means the duels will be more impactful if they aren't as common as the rest of the series
You don't understand how many issues I had with ARC-V just shitting out random duels every time during Synchro/Xyz, it bothered me so fucking much that I just wanted to drop it after seeing it happen so much.
I'm already liking the plot for VRAINS.
No dueling in the first episode is so weird, but also kinda cool? They put that effort into setting up the world and the major players instead and they set up the protag as having more to him than just being a good duelist.
I'm desperately wishing Yusaku changes form like Yuma and Astral do, that outfit is just hideous on all levels, the colors make no sense, it's like he just threw random shit together. More importantly I hope the "must protect secret identity" thing is a 1st season bit only.
Arguably, but we can agree that the both of them has less booty than Yuya.
I honesty don't care about there being a full duel or not, but if it's going to be the first episode at least beef up the animation in everything else a little bit, just for this one first premiere episode.
Instead the animation quality matches that of one of Arc-V's less than stellar looking episodes
>Sore wa do kana
so how many episodes do i have to wait for it to be revealed that Yusaku is a Virus taken humanoid form and sent to earth?
Just finished watching the episode.
I'm not a fan of the character designs, and the animation was really iffy but I'll blame that on the multiple animators.
The plot really didn't drag me in and a little more action and less explaination would've been nice.
Here's to hoping once it reaches episode 7 it'll pick up.
>already cutting costs with 3 stills that last a whole minute
I didn't expect that.
On another note, Yuusaku is already cooler than Yusei.
>Ai's are color coded
>Revolver joins the main cast in the end and they are color coded like the AI's
>Bulky orange AI like Go
>Girly blue AI like Aoi
>Angry red AI like Revolver
>AIs take the form of birds
>Birds shown when talking about the data stream
Really activates my PATTERNS
Although Yusaku is green and Ignis is purple
>tfw you'll never Ride The Wind with your bro
These two gonna fuck right?
Ignis is DARK
Swole AI EARTH etc...
They stole one of my scenario it's kinda strange. I'm honestly becoming paranoid
As I made a Chinese Zodiac CaC archetype years ago, a Bug Bug archetype (digital bug concept) one and Zoodiac and Digital Bug both appeared in the episode along witha story lookingg like mine.
Am i becoming mad ? What the fuck is happening ?
I'm just joking and never really was a patterfag.
Although the 4 Yuya cards in Believe X Believe were right.
Revolver posing along with the good guys might be foreshadowing for him turning good.
Yoshida likes that.
I really hope there are more good budget episodes this time around than in Arc-V
I liked the first episode but the animation was disappointing
literally the first thing i thought of when i saw the blue and i wasn't even making an attempt to analyze the show or make predictions
green = that ugly faggot who talks to yusaku or some other character that hasn't been introduced yet, maybe aoi's brother
red = revolver
yellow = new character
this is me being hopeful about new characters because i don't really like anyone except for revolver/yusaku although the hot dog guy is alright but i doubt he'll be getting many cool scenes/duels
I could see a villain infecting Yuusaku with a virus that would effectively defeat him, but not turn him evil. If it does turn him evil, then it'd be a one time thing like Dark ZEXAL.
Why is she not the main female lead?
That ridiculous hair is totally fit for a main character.
>mfw retards on Pojo are STILL under the delusion that a Yugioh show could survive with an actual female main protag
also only plebs could like yuya more than yuma
>girls on yugioh
I'm already feelling sad for the wasted character design.
I find it very hard to hate him even though I should
Finally... Yuusaku's hair from behind
>Won't socialize with other people due to overfocus on his missing father
>Takes control of a vagrant AI with hidden powers that everyone and their cousin wants control over
I know we've been making jokes for months, but Yusaku is literally Geo Stelar.
ARC-Vfag here. I don't want the show to fail, but I do think ARC-V gets too much flak even if I agree how shit the ending was. For the longest time it was a really good show. Standard was inarguably great and I even enjoyed Synchro (which was hype as fuck even if it ultimately amounted to nothing). It was only S3 when things REALLY started going to shit.
Why Can't we have cake for a main lead for once?
Nah. I liked him because he was a fragile, sheltered teen who crumbled at the slightest inconvenience. It's what invested me in his character. It's honestly a tragedy what became of his character after 103 since his initial characterization was really rather interesting for a YGO protag.
Of course ARC-V gets flack. It's the same shit that happened to zexal after it ended, except with the shit eps almost entirely consolidated in the show's last third. The previous show is always bashed to hype up the new one. It's the easiest way to market the new show to an audience unsatisfied by the last.
Bear in mind that Arc-V was also meant to be more story based and less focused on duels. There were multiple episodes with zero dueling at all and the show was better when it gave its story room to breate.
At the same time, don't think Vrains will be immune to getting fucked over in some way, because Arc-V ultimately went to shit when they started ignoring the plot in favor of shilling cards. Let's not forget the episode where Yuri ignored his own deck in favor of some upcoming release Konami was trying to shill at the time.
How the hell has Synchro hype as fuck? Cockblocking the plot and killing hype, retarded hotels not allowing any character interaction, retarded subplot about Topsies and Commons that no one cared about, Academia being useless once again. Relatively the only good thing about Synchro, other than some short moments, was Roger and there was a disappointing lack of him.
It wasn't just the ending, it was the pacing of Synchro followed by the terrible Openings and the shitty build ups for the "antagonists" of the show. Zarc was predictable as fuck and everyone started catching onto Yuya's berserk rampages from Episode 1. It's not good foreshadowing because the execution was mediocre. The "graduation duel" or rather duels for the series was still stupid because Reira was still an infant shitting himself and the clones are never going to seperate from their Standard copies. No one wants to remember anything after Synchro because it was a huge mess.
Also fuck Battle Beast.
This post reminded me of how shitty the color paletes were in arc-v, they were super bright and unpleasant.
I'm glad Vrains has a softer but still colorful palete like 5ds had.
Synchro started out strong enough, but started dragging right after the Jack duel, when the Hotels thing started.
The Hotel of Character Stagnation was a fucking retarded choice.
Arc-V gets flak because it became exceptionally bad, even for a Yugioh and took a steaming dump on its own cast. How's that for a revolutionary idea?
The people who hated Zexal were always going to hate Zexal, but the reception of the ending by the people who actually watched the show and were (overall) ok with it ranged from lukewarm to good.
not only that but the entire Reira thing felt EXTREMELY forced in terms of execution and it came out of nowhere. It literally feels like the last portion of the show was written in 5 minutes
Not saying it didn't become shit. But it's being demonized in much the same way zexal was during arc-v's start. Mark my words, if shit goes south with this show, there'll be arc-v apologists showing up out of fucking nowhere shitting up the place. It's a cycle at this point.
So, will Go and Aoi also get Cyberse AI partners? because it seems like they will
Synchro was only hype at the very, very beginning. When OP3/ED3 came out and showed all the Lancers in another dimension, interacting together, doing cool shit, etc. It was fresh and new, and I was especially looking forward to what I thought would be good screentime and new interactions for Shingo. But no, those dreams were quickly crushed.
I think that the strong beginning of Synchro is just because of the novelty of new characters visiting a familiar and mostly loved place of the viewers.
Yugo's duel had that a lot of that feeling and so did Dennis and Gon wandering around. Otherwise it was the Top Vs Commons shit but done worse and a not really great prison arc even though ENJOY later turned out to be based.
Seeing Security and Jack shitting on Yuya was great though.
What the fuck are people going to apologize for? The fact that a person's soul can only be quelled by a baby's smile really says a lot for how bad the story was for that series. It's not comparable to any of the other 4 series.
The duels were, in my eyes. I totally agree with the hotel being a major mark against the arc, but with a few exceptions like OESD vs. Shinji, I found a lot of the Synchro duels really fun.
So i guess I'll say the Synchro DUELS were hype. The actual character interaction left a lot to be desired, as you said. It seemed like we were starting to get somewhere when Sora showed back up, but it petered out again quick.
I really regret how much of ARC-V's potential was wasted by the staff. HOW do you fuck that up, especially after S1?
A lot of Arc-V's best points are in its setup, which makes its weak points (payoff) that much more jarring.
Yuya was being set up for an epiphany regarding entertainment and it's time and place, much like Judai had been through his entire character arc, but instead the payoff is "even if it's not the time, let's just use MORE Entame!" which is fucking retarded to anyone with a brain.
Before I jump into this rabbit hole when I get hom:
Was the pilot promising and fun or not? What about the characters in general so far?
Arc-V lured me in with a good start and then stole 3 years worth of episodes from me.
No, seriously, I'm not particularly musically gifted or inclined but even I can tell those vocals were jank. I don't necessarily blame the kids who sang them, since they're young, and it's obvious their agency didn't give them enough training yet.
>Yuya was being set up for an epiphany regarding entertainment and it's time and place
This. I don't know how they fucking didn't GET it in S3. I'd say "Didn't Yuya learn anything?" but his duel with Jack in the Synchro finale didn't actually solve anything either. It was fun to watch, but there was no actual development.
>A lot of Arc-V's best points are in its setup
This, this is my big problem with people saying that Arc-V's first half was great. It was definitely better than what came after it, but the fact is that it relied heavily on setup. Sure, it was hype when it was revealed there were other dimensions based on the previous series. I remember being excited as fuck when I first saw what looked like ruined Heartland in the background in an early ep. But the payoff for all that was fucking dreadful. The early eps don't stand well on their own because they rely so much on hinting at cool things to come that never really do. Not in any decent fashion.
Yeah the pilot was pretty good. Animation was terrible considering it's the first episode but the characters are pretty likable so far and the setting seems interesting. I think Yusaku has potential to be the best Yugioh MC, but that's pretty premature so we'll see how it goes
As a follow up to this, I really hated how Yuya's development of character shifted over from "I WANT TO SAVE YUZU" then to "I WANT TO BE A BETTER ENTERTAINMENT DUELIST" to fucking "I WANT TO SAVE YUZU BY BEING A BETTER ENTERTAINMENT DUELIST."
The fucking premise for entertainment in this series was so cringy that it became unbearable to watch. At least Jaden was more reasonable design-wise.
Setup is also almost always the easiest parts. It's the 2nd and 3rd acts that are usually the most difficult to pull off competently. It's partly why so many 1-2 cour anime have a strong first third/half but then really weaken from that point forward.
Duel Links is killing Yu-Gi-Oh!.
Praying that this guy gets more screen time, honestly. Maybe even a duel or two.
I consider the entire Standard part the "start" of Arc-V.
We don't talk about Quiz dude.
But I am currently enjoying Konami's latest YGO fad. Spamming Links. And I still hate Speed Duels.
I doubt it's because of nostalgia.
Jokes on you, I already hate myself.
Wheelie Breakers is killing Yu-Gi-Oh!.
what? Playmaker doesn't look very much like Yusaku, big guy's appearance being the same in the real world and VRAINs is part of his gimmick, and the spectators weren't Charisma duelists.
Aoi is cute and her cards are the best.
New rival's dragon is cool, remind me of Red Daemon's.
Im really hoping that they actually have duels, arc-v suffered so hard from this, several episodes without a single duel and if there was one it was either interrupted or played off-screen.
Arc-V was at some of its best when it wasn't acting like duels were the be-all-end-all. Shilling cards every other episode kinda ruined the show and really did a lot to throttle the pacing.
Wait, episode out?! You got a link? I have no twitter
>memes never die
Could Vrains be the fabled Yugioh Series to both start AND end like shit?!
Makes me wish someone screencapped in that Arv-V thread where 3 anons all posted keikaku images during I think the ceremonial duel within like 10 seconds of each other.
We must still be under the keikaku.
>designs are good or at least decent throughout
>OP/ED are good
>VRAINS integration in setting seems reasonable
>MC is smart and a socially awkward autist
>Onizuka seems like a bro
>Aoi is cute
>animation could look great if they start actually working on it
So far, I'm pretty optimistic.
I just really fucking hope they'll actually pull through and have that plot about the hot dog stand dude's brother and his involvement in the main story be relevant and not do what they did for every single plot hook from early Arc-V and drop it from the face of the earth.
look at the past jumps in op
Biri Biri into BURN!
Masterpiece into BRAVING
heck even Kazuna into LAST TRAIN
Sorry, I'll take the better option with having a foursome with Rin, Aoi and the Blue Angel
>Aoi AND Blue Angel
Probably done on purpose, this whole season is starting to look like 5DS meets Megaman Star Force. They even had Decode Talker delievering the blow to the Dragon like Junk Warrior Did Red Daemon.
Episode was shit. Aside from animation, direction wise. You could very well present characters AND include at least one duel in the first episode. Instead they waste time on all this Vrains/cyverse shit that makes no sense. I mean in the past they could toss shit at you in between a duel and you can let it pass. But now you don't have anything to distract you so you are realizing all the time the concept
