There were three major incidents that caused Kiyoshi great despair leading up to the attempt, the first was being pissed on, the second was becoming Dickiyoshi, and the third was the letter. All three are a direct consequence of Hana's actions; she pissed on him over her stupid grudge, she was the one who whipped his dick out, and she was the one who ripped up the letter and punched it into his mouth (despite them being able to meet normally otherwise). Whether or not Kiyoshi acknowledges these facts does not change them.
