However, I think the real reason is that about 3 years ago I sank into a depression I never thought I'd get out of. The only thing that kept me going was the massive amounts of Yuri manga I consumed daily. And the weird thing is, Yuri romance manga have had way more interesting plots than normal romance manga. Yuri girls felt jealous, they began and ended relationships, they were cheated on and had rebound relationships, some were happily "married" and had day to day lives as adults. Most of them were out of highschool and all of them felt way more organic then the usual romance manga I was used to reading at the time.

For some reason it felt like Yuri mangaka had actually been in relationships unlike their straight counterparts.
