I think Devilman is a timeless classic which most people getting into anime/manga should take the time to go through. I mean, it's not too long.

My issue is the world of film and art has reached a point of stagnation. While we can appreciate the story, why make another telling of it where the only difference is updated graphics and pop references? The time and energy, not to mention money, could be spent creating something new. Something other than Moe blobs, Fujo sports and Shounen.

Where are the inspired anime that should lead us down the path of revolution?

You're wrong about a few things but what strikes me the most is your belief that this new adaption will bring nothing new to the table other than 'updated graphics'. Are you not aware that Devilman has never had its original story completely adapted and that only bits and pieces of it were ever animated? If Yuasa can pull through and give us a complete adaption of the manga that isn't shit then we'll have something major on our hands. This is big and theres a lot of pressure riding on his shoulders to not only bring a classic to modern times but also to give us the faithful adaption we've always wanted. Considering only a third of the manga has been animated (and at varying degrees of quality) there is a lot of unexplored territory with this series so, in all actuality, theres going to be a lot of creativity and content going on in this new work.

And if you think for even one second that Yuasa is going to turn Miki into some kind of moeblob or try to play it off like a modern shonen then you're wrong. Maybe if they were adapting Grimoire then perhaps you'd be right to fear such a thing but since its confirmed to be the original story then theres nothing to fear there.
