Who GA here?
We've finished the translation of Geijutsuka's spin-off visual novel Slapstick Wonderland for the PSP. Some game-related extra stuff in the folder along with the game itself - e.g. its OST, drama CD and wallpapers.
If you find bugs, post in this thread or drop by #[email protected]
With that out of the way, please enjoy the yearly GA thread.
I'll also note that there are a lot of things I would have loved to redo - you may find some quite obvious - but with this TL being in intermittent hiatus since its inception in November 2014 (holy crayons), this is a "now or never" release.
Sincerest thanks to everyone who was involved - all the translators, the editor - as cliche as it sounds, this would've been impossible without you guys. Special mention to #soranowoto and their own PSP VN translation project which was a big motivator and provided technical advice.
Professor is best girl.
Perfectly understandable, the game, while quite entertaining - or we wouldn't have been translating it - is not penned by Satoko and is in a lot of ways a look back on the TV series.
This is the game's main character who had a cameo in volume 4 of the manga, a ridiculously cute weeb girl from France who misunderstands literally every single Japanese custom.
It... caused some trouble for the translation efforts.
I would have liked to have done more to help out, I have a lot of respect for everybody that contributed towards this.
Mari is without a doubt one of the most adorable weebs I've seen in a series or VN.
Still seeding the Kyouju BDs. 27 ratio and counting!
Thanks for this. So adorable.
Still afraid to read it, even though have all moon volumes (and even the art book).
Not yet, if I have time I'll try my hand at it, but for now Ginguiser and TLC-ing a non-simulcast show from this season comes first.
Depends on the specifications of your goggles.
I haven't gotten around to reading the last few chapters, I don't want get off this boat yet.
The VN is a nice excuse to put off reading those last few. At least Kuro is still going for a short while yet, right?
>At least Kuro is still going for a short while yet, right?
Who knows for how long it will be.
Just rewatched this show recently. It's absolutely wonderful. It really captures the joy of creativity and I actually learned some really neat things about art while watching it.
I never knew Hitsugi Katsugi no Kuro existed when I first watched it (8 years ago!), but this was a cool little easter egg.
To an extent, there's been a proper QC pass by a person who actually speaks English, unlike myself, a number of confusing moments have been cleared up, a lot of typos, wording and grammar mistakes were fixed, went back on some of the more abortive localization attempts.
Though I expect there to be issues still due to my own inattention or stupidity.
Anime when, goddammit.
Wait, so Radio CD and Drama CD are different things? Because the game's drama CD is yet another thing entirely...
Here. I'm busy these days myself, but I'd like to drop by IRC to help out with whatever. Maybe sub the drama/radio CDs when the day comes.
I don't want to, not just yet.
I gotta tell you, there's this weeb shop I go to every few months and I've been seeing Kisaragi's figure sit there for like 2 years now. I think it's time for me to save her.
It didn't feel like an ending, but you can still feel how fleeting the moment is between Awara and Buchou. Kisaragi also acted quite mature for a clumsy girl during graduation day; she didn't go Azunyan on the club members, which is understandable since her relationship with Buchou (and the Art Club by extension) isn't that established.
The ending is a "life goes on" kind, and it kinda makes me mad. It means that we won't see the girls act like upperclassmen.
GA left a hole in my heart that can't be filled. Nearly every other show of its type has no substance or decent writing and can't understand the difference between being cute and trying to be cute.
I think what hits me hard is how much I want to be part of the art club. It's such a relaxed place to be in to dick around with art related things.
Kiyuzuki seems to be the least likely to make yuri.
If there is any kirara manga that needs to get an adaption it is this one. Also it is nice to see the localization catching up at a decent rate.
Reminder that her VA is retired after her marriage.
Fun fact, in one of the routes, in a split, a tiny scene with Kisaragi was missing for no good reason in the original (there were 3 split options instead of the usual 4, too), but the script for it existed so we added that missing option in the EN version.
Doing god's work, thank you friends.
Why aren't you following HIS footsteps? Him.
Guess who still draws GA fanart every day on pixiv. His gallery has over ten thousand images already. Spoilering because eye cancer.
...not that I could do any better.
It just makes no sense. It's like, why do it? Because you love GA? Good but why didn't improve at all? Did you improve but still prefer to draw like crap on purpose? Did you get stuck with that art style and can't process improvements? I'm trying to wake up.
How do I play this one? Just mount whatever was inside 471Mb file to some PSP emulator? Any you'd recommend?
Would it work if I burn it to physical media? Or does that require jumping through additional hoops?
Either get PPSSPP like the other anon said (optionally JPCSP, but only if for some reason the former won't work for you), or if you have a PSP you could always install a custom firmware and upload said .iso to its memory card.
This guy is like a legend now, his fanart for various series makes me feel like "I wish I had that drive to unleash as much as this" in an abominable sort of way.
It makes me wonder sometimes if it's all the one person and not a cabal of evil artist working towards some mysterious purpose?
And witchcraft Works was referencing a Kraftwerk album cover too before that. I wonder if the artist knew that when referencing the WitchActivity cover?
I hope we get another art book for absolutely no reason.
