Haven't seen Kuzu
Is Hanabi a tomboy
She looks kind of like a tomboy skater girl here
She is neither sporty nor athletic. There are no tomboys in the show.
No but you should watch it anyway

So what is she, if not a tomboy?
>>156840954
Gay.
>>156840820
>There are no tomboys in the show
And that's a damn shame. Only thing holding it back from being perfect if you ask me.
>>156841856
Doesn't Akane have some significant tomboy qualities?
>>156840954
A "confused" girl with daddy issues.
>>156841994
Nope, she's totally feminine. Sanae is the closest, but she is a lesbian who sorta goes butch at the end.
>>156840626
She isn't a tomboy, but she's pretty darn cute. She was my seasonal mistress.
>>156840626
didnt expect this annoying little shit to turn out as the only decent human being in the show.
>>156842969
>implying Hanabi is a bitch or a bad person
>>156840626
>skater
Is this early 2000?
>>156843224
Do you not remember what she said to that guy in one of the first episodes? All he fucking did was ask her out, there was no reason to say what she did. I'm sure someone has a screencap. But then at the end of the series she handles the same situation a lot better. Character development.
>>156843479
He should have snapped her neck, to be honest
>>156843224
she is a bitch, not on akane level, but she is.
trying to fill the void left by her dad, first with sensei and then everyone she sleeps with doesnt excuse that.
Sensei is the worst offender though, no sane person would willingly get cucked just for someone who looks like their mother.
>>156843569
I think she's pretty sweet and loving.
Exhibit A: Hanabi kissing her friend on the cheek.
>>156843861
thats gay though
Was akane a realistic character ?
Personally i think so, i think there are women like that in the real world but want to hear other people's opinion on it.
>>156844252
not realistic if you campare it to the average person, but there are people with worse forms of sociopathy.
>>156844252
In the first half of the show she was pretty much a saturday morning cartoon villain who existed entirely to antagonize hanabi and do cruel things to her for no reason.
She was probably laughing maniacally whenever she was off camera.
>>156844838
Are there any humanizing aspects to Akane's character, or is she just a purely evil person?
>>156840626
>tomboy skater girl
>>156845112
I think she gets more "human" later on when she gets with mugi and the show goes from her perspective from an epsiode or two.
But her basic motivation is still just "I want to make other women feel like shit"
>>156845431
Does the show ever explain what she was like before becoming a slut in high school?
>>156845514
No not really.
There's a flashback scene to back in highschool where she cucks her best friend out of the boy she has a crush on, which i think is implied/stated to be the first time she did that kinda thing.
>>156845431
No anon her psyche goes deeper than that. Making other women jealous was just a part of it.
And a lot of women in real life are like that in the sense that they feel attracted to the men liked by other women or in the sense that they like making each other jealous.
>>156844252
She has realism to her that is exaggerated for the sake of the story. The striking thing is she's incredibly self-aware.
>>156845112
>Are there any humanizing aspects to Akane's character
Yes. Fans are being as melodramatic as the story. She's not a sociopath, she's just a bitch. Men are attracted to her so she responds to their feelings. Women are jealous of her so she flares it up. They're interconnected: Narumi is attracted to Akane, Hanabi is jealous because she likes Narumi and is resentful toward Akane, Akane senses all this and 'steals' Narumi to flare up Hanabi's jealousy.
That's Akane. Mugi notes she fulfills the roles people expect her to. She's good at it, it fills the void.
>>156846468
Trying to make other women jealous isn't that bad, but being confused whenever her old boyfriend got upset because she was cheating on him is starting to reach sociopath levels of callousness. Also the fact that one of the girls she made jealous was her best friend, but she didn't feel any guilt over hurting her and instead just considered it a thrill.
>>156844838
>Cartoon villain
Did you pick it up from digibro ? But really no, she had some psychological issues and actions of people with such issues can often be inexplicable. Yes there were one or two over the top moments with her character in the first half of the show but the same can be said for other characters too and it may have been done to get the point of the characters across.
>>156846652
I don't know, I consider her incredibly self-centered more than anything and she obviously didn't care deeply about either one of them. In the first case, she was being obtuse; she knew she did something wrong. But she had never loved anyone and couldn't relate to having her heart broken by another person, whether due to be cheated on or losing that person to someone else.
By the ending, there's a different Akane: she loves Narumi, she's always had a soft spot for Mugi, and she shows compassion (in her own way) toward Hanabi.
>>156847610
To add, those things she doesn't understand, but she does understand being loved, desired, envied, hated. Akane rolled on the feelings and sentiments of others; they are what gave her definition. It was easy for her to take on roles, even thrilling, but never truly satisfying.
After falling for Narumi and agreeing to marry him, she wants to try something harder but more fulfilling: being a loving and devoted wife.
