I've wondered about this. It seems to me that if they made a third OVA it would likely be in the same continuity as the TV show, or if it's in the same continuity as the OVAs, it'll include several elements of the TV show without bothering to reintroduce them.

There's an obvious advantage to the TV show being set in a better (or at least, more) constructed world. It would be a lot to ask for them to undo all that work in a third OVA just for the sake of keeping continuity, so as a result the continuity will likely become somewhat fluid - that's assuming they don't just stick to the new continuity of the TV show.

It's a shame, I think I prefer the more simple world of the OVAs. With the more complicated TV show world, the world can feel more developed but there's also the risk of parts of it feeling incongruous. Like for example, I liked that Lotte had a laptop in the OVAs. In the TV show she has a crystal ball that connects either to the internet or just a special witchnet, which is it? It's not very clear. I get the decision, it's more witch-like, and helps make Croix's introduction of all her gadgets feel like more of a contrast. But at least when Lotte had a laptop, I understood what that was.

i'm going to half agree, half disagree, and in part because i won't and don't have interest in some really young kid having the same attitude and personality as i would have someone quite a ways older for the mere reason alone that there's clearly a better chance for there to be some development behind it. not that there has to be, mind you, but that there's a higher chance that this is the case, and it's great to know that a character is a culmination of life experiences with many variables and angles taken into account

what i would agree with is that the audience itself doesn't necessarily need to know the fine details, but we should at least get some hints here and there touched upon by things such as the environment and dialogue exchanges. otherwise, you're going to get a lot of "why?" without a whole lot of resolution and with a whole lot of fanfic assumptions and weird vindications, and without that fanon, the character would just be a shallow and hollow shell of an existence

and in fact, you kind of addressed my above points in your example with the clue of her family, which really is a clue to her past, so there does need to be something to tell us about her history (such as that) or she'll seem like a kyoani character like keions, and those kinds of characters aren't literary marvels, they're just there to go "d'awwww" and "i want to hug her (with my dick)"

so if you introduce other elements of her character, in order for us to at least have a decent understanding, these elements don't necessarily need to be completely explained to the fine grain detail, such as what you propose, but at the same time, we do need some rough clues to give us a good reference point--depends on the scale or nature, too

What kind of ending would you like to see? It can't change the dynamic too much since:
a) It's still the first year of all the main cast
b) A second season must be possible
But it going back to status-quo would be pretty lame. I guess the most interesting ending for a second season would actually be giving up the power of the Shiny Rod to save magic. Akko wouldn't end up overpowered but she still accomplished Chariot's mission and it's a hopeful ending that opens up a lot of possibilities for the second season with the magical world regaining its former glory.

Maybe the Shiny Rod disappears after the Grand Triskellion, or it stays in the forest to become the new source of magic.
The Rod could just be like Akko's training wheels , and after everything happens this season she will be at a normal student level of magic except being able to ride a broom.

Speaking of LWA & Death Billiards, how did Death Parade do as a TV anime compared to LWA TV? Compared to LWA TV, I used to see people talking about Death Parade like if it were the second coming of Anime Christ.
