shoe...
>>
Yeah, it was worse
>>

It was just a watered down Code Geass with Shinji Ikari as the protagonist, there's far worse shit out there.

If anything, I'd say it's worth watching because of the visuals, the music and the crazy action scenes that are very much like the ones from Code Geass. Even the story has its moments, but I do think it's the worst part of the show.
>>
>>156716793
>there's far worse shit out there
Absolutely, that doesn't mean it wasn't shit though.
>>
>>156716876
Maybe I was expecting SAO levels of awfulness because of how much I've heard people talking about Guilty Crown.

I wanted to watch something that feels like Code Geass as I wait for R3 and this show popped up in my mind. It... kinda delivered? I wanted the MC to keep being Hitler until the end.

The OST was good. Sasuga Sawano Hiroyuki.
"Basileus" and "Krone" are still in my playlist.

I like Inori, but I hate that dumb blonde bitch who was the student council president, I think. The fact that she wasn't killed by the end of the series pissed me off.

First half was pretty decent, the second half up until the end of the Hitler Shoe arc was great.

Then Gai was randomly brought back to life and it all went to shit very quickly.
>>
>>156716793
I really do not get why people are saying the visuals are good. Outside of the promotion art and the first episode's animation, the show was just spiraling with quality issues, a lack of expressive motion, and a really shitty color filter. The visuals are dull as it gets, and the story is much worse.

Only actual pros are the music.
>>
>>156717780
When he was following in Hitler-senpai footsteps he wasn't so bad.
>>
>>156718046
How did they revive Gai anyway? Is there an explanation for that I happened to miss?
>>
>>156718317
No, they just revived him and he's evil now except he's not really evil but he did evil things, it was dumb af

Guilty Crown is not bad at all, most people who were watching it just had some high ADHD case and called things they didn't pay attention to "plot holes" or whatever. Either that or they nitpick the crap out of it to make it seem worse than it actually is, pointing out shit that most anime do and get away with doing.

People were just expecting it to be the new EVA, and the fact that it fell shot of these absurd expectations made everyone try to make it seem like this horrible trainwreck with no redeeming qualities when it's actually a 6 or 7/10 show at best.

Very few of these are actual plot holes and most of them are stupid nitpicking that can be done with EVA, Code Geass, FMA or whatever acclaimed show you can think of. And the ones that feel like plot holes are literally explained in the show. Whoever wrote this is not only clueless on what plot holes are and is also terrible at interpreting information given to them.

Only R2, the first season was well-received.

Which is ironic because R2 is significantly better and has much less filler than R1.
>>
>>156720043
We had Valvrave and SamFlam. I can't recall much going off the rails besides that in recent times. SamFlam was also more like multi-track drifting than an actual trainwreck too.

I wish Mayoiga actually went full trainwreck instead of beating around the bush.

Shu was nothing like Shinji ikari

Shinji's character arc:
Be an introverted, neurotic, socially anxious wreck for 24 episodes, sometimes being a little more cheery in a Rod Flanders kind of war only to be shot down, then decide to keep living in the real world rather than choosing warm feelings forever.

Shu's character arc:
Be introverted and neurotic for 9 episodes, be a normal hero who's nice to everyone for a few episodes, failed love interest dies which he blames on himself and his trying-to-please-everyone attitude so he becomes a hardass who will do what it takes to make sure as many as possible survive even if they don't like it, gets betrayed as a result and nearly dies, his gf gets abducted protecting him at the same time he realises he was in the wrong and forgives the people who betrayed him and apologises himself - this is his Jesus phase when he truly finds piece with himself and is peak confidence, peak purpose. Then finally his efforts to save his beloved fail and he becomes a blind, broken man.

VERY LITTLE in common with shinji's character arc. Their development is nothing alike. At least come up with a criticism that isn't plainly stupid and wrong

She was a true waifu to shu
>>
>>156721814
I was talking more about both characters starting out as cowardly faggots who neglect the powers given to them, and then they start grow some balls as the series progresses. I know their arcs are very different from one another.
>>
>>156718046
The final arc wasn't bad
I thought it was just the final episode and final battle with guy that wasn't that satisfying.
>>
The Lost Christmas VN is the good part of Guilty Crown
>>
>>156715969
I watched this show just so I could drop it every episode.
>>
>>156722115
Honestly, I don't think reviving Gai was needed. He already had his character arc done and wrapped up in the first half of the show, they could have used these last handful of episodes to give villains like Segai and the Da'ath guy some background instead and keep Keido as the main villain.

No wonder you like Guilty Crown, looks like you prefer overwrought trainwrecks instead of cohesive and consistent works.

>>156723247

Sure is, I specially like when Mao was shot multiple times all over his body and somehow was still alive because the medicine was advanced enough to heal something like that. But Euphemia getting shot once and taken to a hospital right afterwards results in her dying anyway.

Umm...you realize that's possible in real life too?

One Bullet Can Kill, but Sometimes 20 Don’t, Survivors Show

A man in North Carolina was shot roughly 20 times in 1995 and lived to tell about it. The rapper 50 Cent was shot nine times in 2000 and has since released three albums. And in 2006, Joseph Guzman survived 19 gunshot wounds during the 50-shot fusillade by police detectives that killed Sean Bell.

While surviving numerous gunshots could be a miraculous feat, doctors who have treated gunshot victims say that being shot is not automatically a death sentence.

When major organs — the heart and brain especially — and blood vessels are avoided, the chances of survival are good, they said. The catch, of course, is that there is no science to preventing a bullet from hitting a vital part of the body.

“It’s a matter of total, straight luck,” said Dr. Vincent J. M. DiMaio, the former chief medical examiner in Bexar County, Tex., and the author of a book on gunshot wounds first published in 1985.

i barely remember it but it still the worst anime i've watched . btw who was this guy ?
>>
>>156726286
That is possible when you don't get shot in any vital organs, but I don't think it ever happened when someone was shot by an entire police unit surrounding him. Mao was shot from a lot of directions by at least 20 people with guns pointed at him. I could believe his vital organs weren't shot during the ordeal for the sake of the plot, but it's still absurd.

Also they did justify his survival with high-tech medical equipment instead of him just being lucky that they somehow avoided any vital organs. Euphemia didn't die immediately after she was shot by Lelouch, she was alive for enough time to actually speak with Suzaku before passing out on the hospital bed.

I don't think this is a huge plot hole or anything, Code Geass is one of my favorite series. But sometimes I get pissed at people calling R2 a trainwreck because of some things that could've been handlet better, and yet R1 gets away with that shit.

>>
>>156722317
Too bad the closest we'll ever get to a Lost Christmas anime is that short OVA that was basically a glorified ad for the novel.
>>
Guilty Crown tried to be too much for a show with only one season and 22 episodes, it feels rushed especially in the last two episodes. I feel most of its problems could be fixed if it was like Code Geass and had two seasons with 25 episodes each.

The writers would have more than enough space to flesh out the world they were presenting, the ideas that are only vaguely explained such as the Voids, the virus, Daath and stuff like that. It would also be easier to flesh out other characters like Ayase, Tsugumi, Segai, Daryl, Darth Mugi, as well as those other guys from Funeral Parlor.

It could have been a much better show than it ended up being, and that's what makes people so frustrated with it.
