I'll spoon-feed just this once. It doesn't really matter that Nyaa is dead for currently airing series - you can get the torrents directly from fansubber websites. If you don't want to torrent what you need to do is to get the filename for an episode, e.g.
[Asenshi] Little Witch Academia - 16 [88457AF3].mkv
and query XDCC bots with the parenthetical identifier ([88457AF3]) - for example search for that on nibl. Then you can just DDL it over IRC Rizon.

For older content I'm not sure where you'd go now, BakaBT and AB are private. Probably have to use torrent search engines or wait to see if someone can make an archive of nyaa torrents. For most of the non-Sukubei stuff there was usually redundancy (albeit not systematically).

Theoretically a stream can be as high quality as downloading a blue release from Nyaa.

Damedesuyo releases were usually around 500 megabytes for a 23 minute anime. This means an average Bitrate of only 2986kbps, so even a shitty 4mb connection could stream it easily. The point is about Complexity.
Streaming can't be done at very high unrestriced encoding complexity (5.1 with unrestricted buffer), but a 4.1 profile compression is still decent enough (same as Blu ray). With limited buffer you are looking at around 50% increase in bitrate in a worse scenario, so 4,5mbps. Restricting it to 4mbps would be fine.

The point is, if the stream use good quality encode setting and set the bitrate to 4mbps (2pass, prefereably with a large variable buffer), the result will be pretty much as good as what you could get on nyaa.

Biggest problem is the player capabilities. Up until not long ago, browser players couldn't even display the correct color primaries and inreprete tv range correctly. This is now changing but will be a long time before we get good quality subtitles for streams.

Streaming is more of a issue for Live Action Film content as the grainy source needs AT LEAST 8mbits for looking minimally acceptable.

Streaming is getting better slowly, no longer need to buffer, nothing happens if you click on the time bar and ads are easy to block.
