Scarywater wasn't the central hub and by then its use had significantly declined. While it was sad to lose it, at the time there were still many other places people went to. Several different trackers, some groups had their own, and there were multiple indexes. Nyaa, meanwhile, is/was still in prime use, and not just for fansubs. Part of the panic also comes from the fact that we have no idea what is actually happening and a part of our daily life that we've come to depend on has suddenly been disrupted.

I'm not particularly worried about anime but Sukebei is one hefty loss.

With the death of nyaa I was curious with darknet/dark web alternatives.
Not only are tor exclusive sites more viable but things like ZeroNet exist, a P2P oriented bitcoin cryptography page hosting application with 1 click site cloning. Sites that are basically torrents themselves that can host torrents.
Somebody needs to set that shit up on there or a better alternative so we don't have to worry about this kind of garbage again.

Same sort of shitshow happened with container switch to mkv or encode switch from xvid/divx to h264.
