It's best not to read doujins after source material.
For example, I enjoyed reading Fujiyama-san but now I can't look back on it because of the NTR doujin I read. The art is so similar it kinda makes it canon in my head and I hate it. I regret ever reading it.

well doujins ussually aren't out until after a show is out but I've read stuff before getting into the show and it's either there's no context so I barely can tell the difference between it and just a original story or I just see the characters get fucked a lot before starting a series but when I start watching the show I ussually forget or see the two as serperate things.

Fapping to an IP I haven't seen before leaves me feeling a bit hollow. It's not a bad feeling, but experiencing it first definitely adds to the experience.

This can also be a problem though if the doujin is really good but is particularly violent or cruel, then I can't enjoy it anymore.
