I guess it was okay. Forgettable really. The sudden breaking out of the the war at the end kinda left me with a bad taste since it didn't have any proper foreshadowing but whatever. Interesting dying world but I don't think you can turn battlefields into desert wastelands so easily.

I think there was a huge amount of foreshadowing. But I don't disagree that strongly as the ending nevertheless was a huge change in the atmosphere of the series and would have needed more episodes to make the change in tone more bearable.

Pacing could have been better, some things were not that much needed, but was enjoyable. Some backgrounds are quite good and I really liked the veil of mystery about what happened in the past. First episode is one of the better (was that one where the sung "Servante du Feu", right?), especially when you see the skeleton. The opening also is God-tier.

Plus the city is based on some real city in France.

It could be better translated, but that should help. I took some liberties with the translation since there are idioms and shit. Also, most of them should be read with "I want to be...", "I want to become...", "I want to...", "I wish I were..." in mind. It's not written and is not needed in this context in french.

For example "Courir un marathon complet" word for word means "Run a whole marathon". You obviously have to read it as "I want to run a whole marathon". The "I want to" isn't written but implied. Thus, I simply left a "To [...].

Same for "Que je sois meilleure cuisinière" which word for word means "That I am a better cook". Since it would be kinda machine translation, a better one would be "I want to become a better cook" or "I wish I were a better cook", but the words "I want to" / "I wish" aren't written, they're implied. Thus, I simply left "To be a better cook" on the pic.

It would have been much better if they were made to decide whether they'll fight for Seize and its people or pursue peace at all costs. The conflict between their universalist ideals and their sworn duty to their country and the people of Seize was resolved too easily and cheaply to call the show great. I still liked it, but it bugs me all the more when a work develops themes and sets up a perfect ending to deliver on them and then fails to do so for whatever reason.
