This preview pic of my favourite alien of the season can't be this cute?!
Episode in 3 hours and 25minutes.

Nah I think she's giving him the book in the OP.
>>
>>156468106
Detachable limbs sure are handy when you're too lazy to animate the cape everytime Zashunina lifts his arms.
>>
>>156468104
Nah, more like "I want what's best for humanity as well! How can you even doubt that?"

Will zaShunina ever learn to keep himself in one piece now? He clearly thinks his human form is too limited for his liking.
>>
>>156468457
Why should he? Reading with your limbs attached is impractical as fuck.
>>
>>156468216
Yeah. Judging from the trailer, she's against the Wam because she's worried what it would do to humanity.

Fucking ridiculous. Not even Time Lord technology to make it bigger on the inside.

After ep3 aired, we had multiple megathreads with people predicting doom and gloom because of the wam. It's a pretty common fear.

>>156468776
>plesiosaur
>dinosaurs
Not quite. They're distant cousins to dinosaurs, closer related to turtles than "true" dinosaurs and birds.

>Not quite. They're distant cousins to dinosaurs, closer related to turtles than "true" dinosaurs and birds.

So Nessie is just a turtle looking for her shell?
>>
>>156469243
Drunken Scot nonsense aside, no. Turtles and their extinct close relatives have been a separate group for over 200 million years now.
>>
>>156469118
>>156468763
If anything it's dumb not to fear wam bringing about human extinction. What matters is using that anxiety to prevent those scenarios. Unless it's a front, Shindo is way too relaxed about the whole thing.
>>
>>156469728
I think zaShunina outlined the most probable course of events in advance to him. His perception of time may not be entirely linear, so who knows how much he really knows.
>>
The one thing I'd be worried about is neiter economic collapse nor weaponisation of the whams, but rather the global warming caused by the increased leftover heat produced by the appliances of said energy.
>>
>>156470041
That sounds likely. Though thus far I'd argue there's no clue that hints to Zashunina having a non linear perception of time. I'm curious about the "from your perspective there are two wams right? These are one" though. I don't really get it, I hope they expand on this later.
>>

>>

It's bound to be quantum entanglement.
>>
>>156468711

>>
>>156470505
Quantum entanglement or a higher-dimensional shadow would be my guess.
>>

>>156470505

>>
>>156468045
Flipping pages looks like a pain in the ass holding the book like this.
>>
>>156470265
Even if his perception of time was fully linear (although for a higher-dimensional being it doesn't have to be), we don't know if this uplift is the first time he's ever done this. He could be a benevolent version of the Mass Effect Salarians, uplifting shit all the over the place.
>>

>>
Tsukai a cute.
>>
While on one hand I'm curious to see where this is going, on the other hand I don't see why zaShunina doesn't just say "Do it how I tell you to do it, or I'm taking my wams and going home."
>>
Damn this show just flies by every week, definitely one of the few of the sesaon.
>>
It looks like the next episode previews have the UN doing some sort of military action against Japan.
In reality, would the UN/rest of the world really be stupid enough to try to engage in military action with a alien who just dropped infinite energy balls in your lap?
>UN attacks magic cube
>space jesus just detaches his hands and chokes out every soldier
>being stupid enough to attack the country of which alien has landed in
seems like a good way to get the world turned to tang like EoE
>>
>>156473164
Implementing non-proliferation measures is a perfectly sound idea from the realistic point of view. As one government guy noted, every single country would demand the same thing if somebody else got a shitload of wams and nobody knew how they really worked.
>>
>>156473658
What I don't understand is why doesn't Japan just give back all the balls or put them in the cube for safe keeping so that way the UN can just go fuck itself for demanding them.
I predict that the ending may have space jesus just fucking off with balls but leaving Shindo-san a pair of his balls as a memento/chance for humanity to have them again
>>
>>156473658
I'm guessing part of it is zaShunina wants to see humanity come together and share it the way he wants. Probably goes against his desires if it was forced upon them.
>>
>>156472608
They are nice looking patterns, though.
>>
>>156473674
They are implementing Chapter VII of the UN Charter. It involves a whole scale of potential measures, from economic and telecommunication restrictions to actual military action. It's entirely legal and has been invoked many times, in fact.
>The Security Council shall determine the existence of any threat to the peace, breach of the peace, or act of aggression and shall make recommendations, or decide what measures shall be taken in accordance with Articles 41 and 42, to maintain or restore international peace and security.
>>
>>156473759
Shindo said as much, yeah. zaShunina is staunchly against any attempt to monopolize the wam by anybody.
>>
>>156473658
A huge chunk of the public opinion and politicians would welcome it. It wouldn't be an effective threat. As Tsukai reported, most people are either undecided or against the wam.
>>
>>156473752
So when your mom gives you money you're just like "eh, nope, if I take it I'm gonna be bullied into giving it to the jocks at my school, so please take it back?" that's retarded. We're talking about a system that could potentially revolutionize technology and humanity's way of life everywhere. The priority is finding a way so everyone can profit of it.
>>
>>156473674
If they didn't, the UN would practically risk letting Japan become a nation that ruled over all others. Threatening Japan with severe actions is just to show how big of a deal Wam is and how big an advantage they are to anyone possessing them.
>>
>>156473812
I don't think the issues is whether or not it's legal to do. It's more that it doesn't seem to be a good decision. What makes them think that they can force Japan and in extension an alien to hand them all over? There's so many unknowns about the zaShunina, if he has the ability to create such things then it's clearly not a smart decision to implement the procedure and possibly provoke him.
>>
>Russia mad as fuck
Figures. Oil and gas are the only reasons why they're still somewhat relevant.
>>
I'm both happy and scared for Hanamori. He's such a ditz, I'm sure he's going to fuck something up with that authority of his.
>>
Loved how this episode focused more on the characters, it was much needed.
>>
I wish they mentioned the entire energy sector crashing or something
>>
>this bread is fuwa fuwa
>I like it
>>
>>156474047
They did briefly mention oil countries getting up in arms over this. They could go more in-depth about that though.
>>
>>156468106
YOU JUST KNOW
>>
>>156473951
On the other hand, they can't very well just nod and let things be. Letting one country sit on the biggest and potentially most dangerous technology ever discovered is unacceptable, not to mention Japan could be influencing zaShunina for all they know. We know he understands the concept of nationalism and thinks it's retarded and dangerous, but the rest of the world has no way of knowing it for sure.
>>
>>156474025
I think his being the last guy will be relevant somehow. There will probably be a situation where Shindo will have to save him.
>>
>>156474010
Shindo did mention in the car he thought the only people who were against the wam were the oil corporations
>>156473948
I think a lot of what is going on just kinda proves what people were talking about in the past few threads about how zaShunina shouldn't have started with infinite energy as his starting bid to humanity, that was way too much for them to even start to figure out. He should have started with something lesser.
But the more curious question is, if infinite energy isn't the biggest gift he has to humanity and if this was him starting out slowly. What could be even better than infinite energy?
Some type of star gate space travel?
Letting humanity travel by means of his own ways?
Giving humanity the ability to community sorely through his mind rape powers?
I mean I'd take detachable arms since as he's proven, they are pretty useful
>>
>>156474095
>>156474047
The socioeconomic collapse was one of the reasons why the UNSC demanded an unconditional surrender of the wam.

>>156472834
Best scene, by far.
By comparison, the show's poor attempts at making Tsukai look cute with that whole scene in the car were annoying as fuck.
>>
>>156474223
I think zaShunina is going for the shock therapy ("The resolve to drop a bomb") to speed up the whole process.
>>
>>156474157
I definitely agree with that. I'm just thinking they should have attempted to come up with a different method. Maybe they did try and that was the only decision they could agree on to but it feels like they were going to go with that decision regardless. Not saying I have a better solution, but being the UN I'm sure there are people who could do a better job. Maybe attempt to set up a talk with zaShunina or something.

>>
>>156474472
She didn't have to get all flustered about it though. This shit happens even to the best. A stoic "yeah so what" attitude and then making her thumb down the video would have conveyed the point just as well. This scene only conveyed she was childish, otaku bait, and that she can't maintain her composure. It even manages to undermine the audience's perception of her skill as a negociator.
>>
>>156474472
And she found out that people across the globe were making fun of her. She's still a rookie in some ways, so no wonder she didn't handle it well.
>>

I thought she was already married?
>>
>>156474660
She *is* childish, though. Despite her intelligence and otherwise pretty good ability to remain objective and broadminded, she's still the youngest person in the cast and when she's out of her element, it shows.
>>
>>156474660
Just like science girl. If it weren't for Hanamori, it'd seem like only the female characters are portrayed as childish.

ZaShunima handled this badly. Instead of showing off the WAM to the world, he should have first mailed a set to the largest power company in every region, and once they all had their set and were wondering wtf it is, then he reveals it.

Too late to keep it under wraps at that point.

Also even with all the potential negative uses of the WAM, the positives far, far outweigh the negatives. Even if he gave humanity only one pair, the positives would still win out.

Humanity has never, ever been worst off with more resources than with less. Sure, new issues crop up, but they're never worst than the ones overcome.

The problem is that mere rational arguments are often not enough. Just take the current situation: all scientific authorities are in agreement that the global climate change is a huge problem, but a good chunk of the world is in denial. It's a fact that nuclear power is immeasurably better than coal, but there's a ton of opposition because muh coal jobs and muh Chernobyl.
Dropping the Wam on the world and literally forcing them to cooperate may very well be the fastest way to achieve something.

Can somebody explain this? You get an energy source that doesn't emit heat, so all the heat would be produced by whatever the Wams are wired to. How would that even significantly contribute to the greenhouse effect? And considering that the global use of coal and oil ceases almost immediately? If anything, there would be a rebound = global cooling.
>>
>>156475349
They don't focus on any specific country (except Japan), so it's more about UN countries in general being cunts. Then again, I can sympathize with them as can the MCs, because Wam is such a big deal to humanity.
>>
>>156475431
No, but human history shows that if something can be used for harm, it will be. I don't necessarily agree with their decision in this case, but it makes plenty of sense.

Yeah the scene is a bit jarring, but it's a nice reminder how how young and inexperienced she is. First she can't control her emotions well (contrast Shindo's own controlled reaction when Yaha Kui drops him to the ground last ep) and then instead of just moving on she let's it get under her skin.

When the negoiations kick into high gear those traits are probably gonna bite her in the ass.
>>
>>156475548
Think they mean global warming in the most literal sense - aka if the number of Wams in use reaches a significant number (millions/billions ect) then the sheer amount of heat they'll collectively produce will warm up the Earth's temperature.

Their decision was retarded as fuck. They should have ignored Russia and America's whining and demanded from Japan access to ZaShuina.

We don't know Kado's limits, we don't know how ZaShuina would react to an act of hostility. There are too many uknonws and the UNSC reacted poorly to something that could improve the lives of every single person on the planet.

The Wam is like a miracle drug on super steroids - without knowing more, no sane bureaucrat would ever let it proliferate unchecked.

Maybe a goal of his is to break the boundaries of "countries" by using different means to make the entire earth equal and whole.
First by giving the earth infinite energy, thus making things like oil and other fuels not something needing to be relied upon, second could be giving everybody access to free, anytime, anywhere travel to anywhere on earth, thus breaking the boundary of where you are born or live, or want to go. Then later on could be something like curing world hunger, thus increasing the health of the worlds population and/or just outright curing all cancer and other problems, not making everybody live forever, just without aliments. Then maybe he could build different houses all over, or maybe build huge cubes everywhere so everybody has a place to live.
Or maybe he's just a bored, lonely God wanting to have fun.

What is your ideal ending for Kado?
>Good ending: Humanity gets over their differences and zaShunina fixes all the worlds problems and creates a new utopia age of peace and prosperity. Cozy ending with Shindo living a peaceful life while zaShunina watches over the world from his cube
>Neutral ending: zaShunina winds up not being able to change the minds of most of the world and they end up refusing his help, he winds up going back where he came from at the end but promises to return one day in the future when humanity has evolved to a point where they are more likely to work with him
>Bad ending: The entire world descends upon Japan and zaShunina, the rest of the world plots to just kill him or blow up him and the cube entirely, Shindo tries to save him but at the end zaShunina let's himself be destroyed for the sake of humanity and letting his death and destruction of all his gifts be the thing that unites humanity against a common enemy.

Clearly he cannot give a Wam to each household, meaning you still need an energy grid to get the power from the limited number of WAMs to everyone.

Easiest way to do this is to send the WAMs to the points that feed into the grid already. And people would still need to pay for grid maintenance and such, even if the power generation is now free.

There's no need to fuss over WAM.
Even if Japan gave all WAM to UN, Japan can still have them so long as zaShunia is with them.

>It's an interesting question: how do you kill a higher-dimensional being?

You infect him with a bad idea that causes him harm in his reality.

Imagine Zashunima is like a video game player, and our world is the game. In our world, we can only interact with his avatar. We can destroy the avatar, but we have no way of physically interacting with the player.

What can interact with him is data, information, emotions. If he starts to care about things in our world, use those against him by threatening them. Causing depression, anxiety, sadness might cause him to self-harm in his world.

As Tsukai said in the last episode, nobody has any idea how zaShunina thinks and what he'd do, so it's better to treat him more like a natural phenomenon. It's hard to take him into account when planning anything.

Anyone in this thread that supports this is clearly an alphabet agency shill bleeding over from /pol/

I think Japan was just listing the implications of article VII, the UN is more likely to economically isolate Japan than bomb it.

He's bored. He wants friends. Creating your own friends isn't the same. Humans are taking too long to get to his level and seem to be headed down the self-destruction path.

I wouldn't call it 'supporting it' rather than expecting it. Wam throws off the power balance of the international community, so of course the big countries aren't going to like it. I think there is wasted potential for this plot; it's too good a premise for a mere political thriller. Wouldn't it have been more exciting if instead of just giving humanity things, the alien organized a Battle Royale like contest between countries for his amusement with prizes for the winners of each stage such as the cure for cancer, clean energy, advanced tech...etc? Also if he had time travel technology, he can get famous historical figures as the representatives for each civilization like Drifters. Toei pls make this.

>communism

Or maybe they just continue to do those things because they're used to them. They CAN eat and sleep, but there is no need. But they don't know there is no need, so they continue to do so.
>>
It seems Japan will get nuked for the third time in the next episode
>>
>>156480335
>>156480165
If you suddenly stopped being hungry, would you notice? Most people eat and sleep at fixed hours, as long as they keep eating and keep sleeping, they won't notice they don't actually need to do either. And if they do, they'll blame the circumstances. Just like Shindo blamed the adrenaline rush.
>>
>>156480165
It could just be that Shindo's been out of Kado as well. The constant same-y inside (plane or Kado), no matter how large, could potentially seem a little oppressive if there's no exit.

But doing it that way means whoever is in charge of the country has full power over the wam, not its people. That's exactly what Zashunina wanted to prevent.
Do you think Kim Jung un and your run of the mill banana republic president would use the wam to give 24/7 electricity to their people? Of course not. They'd use it to build a death ray or some shit. And I'm not even talking about countries at war or civil war.

Fallacious and irrelevant analogy. Besides, what makes you think a wam can be turned into a death ray? Is there a warning label on them that says "Do not reverse-connect the balls or it becomes a death ray"? They were bouncing fucking lasers off it in the lab, Achmed isn't going to be hooking one into an IED to make it blow up bigger.

Ass.

This anime reminds me of Soviet sci-fi stories about Earth humans trying to advance other civilisations, only this time roles are reversed. For a spin this pessimistic to be put on the genre is expected from authors who come from a capitalist country, I guess.

>Regulations are the only reason why we're not choking on a zillion of acutely poisonous chemicals every second.
You actually believe regulations exist to benefit you, and not the biggest corporations that lobby in order to control the market?
The only reason you're not choking right now is because of modern notions of PR, which were inexistent in the 19th century.
It's not profitable to make your customers believe you're a supervillain.
Regulations are worthless.
