I know some people will be waiting for Yuasa's Devilman Crybaby next year to get into Devilman, but the manga is a 70s classic so it's worth reading at least once.
So here we go, Devilman Volume 1, the original edition.
Akira-kun so cute
>>156442832
*gasp*
The meme page...
will bump for you.
The OVA is pretty faithful to the manga so far
>>156443523
It starts to differ with Jinmen, and the OVA ends before the full story could finish.
>>156442307
Where can I download this?
Can you give a link or something?
Thanks for the dump btw
>>156443940
Google Dynamic Pro Scanlations. It's 5 volumes long.
Bumping for op
>>156446319
this is still the most out of nowhere absurd scene in the whole manga
>>156446319
That escalated quickly
How are you dumping this so fast?
>>156446503
4chan pass
Offtopic question: I started to watch the 1972 anime of devilman yesterday, are there large differences between the anime and manga?
>>156446559
I didn't realize that let you bypass the 1 minute limit as well
>>156446565
I haven't seen the anime but iirc they're way different. Also the anime design of Devilman is fucking retarded
>>156442307
Thanks anon
>>156446565
Yes.
>>156446565
>Offtopic question: I started to watch the 1972 anime of devilman yesterday, are there large differences between the anime and manga?
Yeah the differences are pretty large. They're not even the same series.
Both the anime and manga ran concurrently. Go Nagai pitched the idea of Devilman to Toei, and Toei ran with it, except Nagai went on to make his own manga version and deviated very much from what he gave Toei.
.
The OVAs tried to adapt the manga but never completed the story due to lack of budget. The 2004 movie tried, but it sucked so bad.
Crybaby will be the first Devilman anime to actually adapt the manga in ful
>>156446610
>Also the anime design of Devilman is fucking retarded
It was the times. Toei wanted Devilman to look more like an American super hero.
>>156443685
That B^U face. Tim Buckley would be proud.
Man i forgot how depressing the original devilman gets, thanks for the dump OP, hopefully yuasa doesn't screw the pooch on this adaptation.
>>156446762
>>156446657
>>156446610
Alright, thanks.
I am finishing the show, then reading the manga.
And I'm done. For anyone who wants to download the rest of the manga, google Dynamic Pro Scanlations.
Bakabt has gone private, so these kind of things will be rarer from now on.
>>156447367
>bakabt
>for manga
Nigger, lurk more.
>>156446784
>>156446811
>>156446825
>>156446840
Gotta love when he does this shit
this is imo Nagai's most appealing trait and the main reason his works are so iconic
Devilman is glorious.
DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
>>156446565
The anime is shit, really different, read the manga
>>156451067
The anime is fun. It is good horror for a kids cartoon from the 70's. Has frightening designs, disturbing imagery, and a shocking amount of gore. Just gotta get pass the monster of the week concept.
>>156451390
Yes, am at episode 17 and found it entertaining.
Also just finished the manga for the first time, was a good read.
>>156447080
I love this spread so much.
>>156443362
some of those demons are unexpectedly sexy
>>156453411
Same. It's such an intense drawing.
>there are people on this board RIGHT NOW who have never read Devilman
>>156442832
Every fucking time
>>156456050
I want to read it but when I start a series I want to go through everything. and I mean EVERYTHING.
and I find that I dont have the time to read/watch every devilman thing. Wanted to at least try just the first manga but its already close to 3 am so another day it is once again.
Maybe if I caught this thread earlier. Oh well, thanks for the dump anyway OP
>>156444776
This fucking page
>>156442307
I got into Devilman when Crybaby was announced, kinda hyped for Crybaby
>>156446942
>>156446950
YOU BETTER FUCKING BELIEVE IT
something seems off but i'll read more of it until I say it.
>>156453917
Cyclops in the middle is a 10/10 qt.
>>156458572
i liked the titties
so how much of the manga is translated? Was a pretty good read. It's more emotional than the OVAs but I miss the great animated gore of Devilman slaughtering them. It just isn't the same when looking at still black and white images.
anyone?
>>156460146
>>156461807
Devilman manga is fully translated. It's direct sequel, Devilman Lady, is also fully translated.
>>156460146
Finish the first manga. Every Devilman title is actually scanlated, with the exception of Grimoire which was licensed, the latest chapters in Devilman Saga and Gekiman! Devilman chapter.
Of course i didn't mention violence jack and some Mao Dante titles, they're another universe, even though vj is an alternate sequel to Devilman.
Am I retarded if I didn't get the last page till someone explained it to me?
>>156464963
What is there to get?
>>156465008The part about how in the background it's supposed to be angels arriving
>You will never have a secret Go-Go club in your fortified basement for the purpose of creating demons
Why even bother?
>>156465035
Oh I thought you meant the ending of the first volume.Angels are God's army and they're coming down to wipe out the remaining Demons
What series is the real conclusion to the story started in Devilman? Devilman Lady ended on a cliffhanger without actually resolving anything. I tried reading Violence Jack but stopped due to the lack of scanlations. It definitely was strongly tied with Devilmanto the point of having the same character as devilman as MCbut it seemed to me thst it's more focused on it's own story rather than explaining what happened with the world in it's prequels.
>>156465187
What is there to be resolved though?Demons attack > Humans fuck up > God remakes the world, rinse and repeat.
>>156465248
Are you lost?
>>156465458>Satan finally kills the God and breaks the loop
SOMEBODY CALL NAGAI
Thanks, OP.
This is always worth to read again. Thanks OP.
>>156448911
Nagai knows how to entertain. He can tell you the shittiest story ever known to mankind, but his style is crazy and outlandish enough that you can't help but read the whole thing.
>>156467538
This story doesn't seem shitty, though I'm a newfag and have only read the first chapter, so far.
I'll be reading the rest, later.
>>156465035Read Devilman Lady. Everything's explained there.Demons were originally humans. They evolved into demons. They always do when they start escaping the Plan. When this happens, God sends his angels to wipe them out and start over again. The old demon/gods are sent to hell for countless and countless of cycles. Satan was the only angel who denounced God and took back Earth, kicking Michael and the rest out to spare the inhabitants. But after her sleep, God erased some memories, so kick backs Devilman plot.
>>156465187
>Devilman Lady ended on a cliffhanger without actually resolving anything.
No, it did resolve it.Re-read. The age of myth can only happen if God does not take back Earth. It's the age humans become gods and demons, reaching their evolutional state that God wants to deny them. It ends with Satan and Akira implicit victory, he just cockteased us and never showed us if they are okay, but they managed to build their world of freedom.
Violence Jack is an AU crossover of all his universe. Nagai has already said so and put it on its independent timeline.
>>156465458
>Demons attack > Humans fuck up > God remakes the world, rinse and repeat.
That's not quite what happens.Humans evolve into demons/gods > God sends his angels to wipe them out and lock their souls in hell > cooks a new batch of humans and the old world becomes fiction or legend.
Only Satan intervened in favor of humans. She just had incomplete memories in Devilman, and regretted her actions.
>>156467738
Are you taking into account Akuma Kishi?
>>156467590
It's going to be. Vol 1 is the only one that isn't pointless monster of the week and makes sense (outside of the hippies thing).
>>156467590
I wasn't talking about Devilman. Devilman's story is classic and unforgettable. I was talking about his other titles like Iron Virgin Jun and Lovely Angel.
I discovered the original Devilman thanks to a storytime thread almost a a year ago. I don't know the anon who made that thread, but if you're here, thank you.
Should I also pick up the anime?
>>156442832
why the dafuq is he siting in the back
>>156468314
something something underage passenger something
>>156468201
Yeah. I enjoyed all of them.
Even the Devilman Lady anime which started out cheesy and honky, ended up being pretty good.
If Yuasa doesn't fuck up though, Devilman Crybaby has the potential to be 2018's anime of the year, and even potentially improve on the manga's weak points.
>>156456802
SUCK ON THIS
Storytiming Getter Robo Volume 1 >>156471021
Read this and Amon something like a couple pf months ago on the spur of the moment. Anything else I need to go through?
>>156472462
Ooh, thanks for the link.
>>156472496
Devilman Lady, Neo Devilman, Akuma Kishi, Mao Dante, Dante Shinkyoku, what's scanlated of Violence Jack.
>>156472496
Devilman vs Hades but it would help if you're familiar with Mazinger.
Also, Devilman vs Getter Robo, would help if you're familiar with Getter Robo.
Cyborg 009 vs Devilman, OVA is great. The crossover manga (Breakdown) is kind of weird so I don't know.
>>156472496
Also Cutie Honey vs Devilman Lady
This has probably been answered before, but what is the order of Devilman manga after this?
>>156473202
Shin Devilman, Devilman Lady (Or Violence Jack -> Shin Violence Jack), Devilman Saga (Although that seems new)
Akuma Kishi is a prequel.
>>156473360
Thank you my dude.
>>156474734
no problem
Thanks.
>>156442307
I alredy watch the ovas some years ago
>>156481451
the ovas didn't complete the story
