He peaked with Kite. But he basically ripped off Leon and a couple of other things. Anyone seen the American remake with SL Jackson? How was it? need I ask?

His characters look great (yes, they are generic but they look good) and is a decent animator (when given time and money) but he can't direct for shit, Kite was a fluke and Mezzo Forte was pure wasted potential.
