The thing is that the fans absolutely love Hanayama - way more than they love Retsu, oddly enough. Itagaki's already taxing the fuck out of his fanbase with the endless Musashi-only chapters. Can he really afford to kill off Hanayama, too? I don't think so.

If Musashi does kill off Hanayama, Itagaki would have to immediately force Baki to kill Musashi. Otherwise, everything would be too fucked up - but that would fuck stuff up in its own way. It would defeat the purpose of fucking 150 Musashi chapters, at the very least.

Utsumi is pretty explicit in wanting Hanayama specifically, and Hanayama intends to do something for *Utsumi*; not really 'for the police' or 'for the country'. He only agrees after saying that he understands Utsumi's position - which is that he wants revenge for Heebs' death. So it can't really have to do with Baki.

In which order should I read the manga to get into Baki?

No need to spoiler that; we don't mind that question here. Here's the order of the manga as you will find them advertised:

#1. Grappler Baki
#2. New Grappler Baki
#3. Baki: Son of Ogre
#4. Baki Dou

Grappler Baki is not *entirely* scanlated because mumble mumble reasons. Therefore, if you want, you can watch part of the second season of the anime to finish up the first series, or you can skip to the beginning of the second series (nothing that happens in the un-scanlated part of the first series is ever really referenced again). After that, it's straight-shooting.

It's not that *I* have to, it's that somebody has to. The redrawer's name is on the credit page, depending on who's done whatever. Regardless of who's doing it, it takes a lot of time and effort. Surprisingly, we're actually already cutting corners and are still this far behind. I don't want to try to force everybody into overdrive to catch up when I can still just make my normal TL threads here every week. The people who care enough will read those, and the people who can wait will do so for the proper scanlations.

Yuuichiro is assumed to be about as strong as Yuujiro, which is likely why he's on there. He's in 4 chapters, total; if we're including Kenjin. And Hanayama hadn't been in the main series for like 2 years when that poll was taken.

Real apologies for the delay in Dou 122. I said it would be up earlier, but the uploader was and is asleep. He will put it up whenever he wakes up, I'm sure. Kenjin 4 was finished in the meantime, too, so that will probably be uploaded at the same time. Hope you guys enjoy them. Our redrawer for Dou put so much love into 122, it's ridiculous. I might post the versions without text here, after the chapter is on the site; they're really good.
