I understand that in some respect OPT seem like manga generals, but they need to exist for a reason.
Manga move much slower than anime, often at a rate of a chapter a month, but the number of ongoing manga is always much larger than the number of running anime.
OPTs allow you to advertise a manga you like so that it gets a readership that can discuss it, and they allow a little bit of discussion of series in and of itself. You don't need that with anime because anime get a viewership at the beginning of the season and generally lose it when the series finishes at the end of the season.

I prefer OPT with minimum non-image posts because it minimizes shitposting and discourages newfags from asking for sauce.

The counterargument is that the only "discussion" in these threads are newfags asking to be spooonfed. I think they have a right to exist though.

The problem with these threads now is that Google Image search has gone to complete shit and Yandex only finds 10% of shit at best.so basically, if you don't know a manga, you're not going to find it without asking 4 out of 5 times unless it's something very popular.

Going to /wsr/ is arguably even worse than posting in the thread. There's virtually no benefit to taking your request from a thread with at least one person who knows source to a board where maybe nobody knows.
Since google changed their algorithm two or three years ago, google reverse image search almost always gives "cartoon." Roughly half the people asking for source legitimately have no recourse.

Granted, the other half are incoherent, incontinent, incompetent fucks who can't use half a hemisphere to do work for themselves. Just title the images in your folder, it makes things easier.

If it's really like you said, it's been 2-3 years. Those people need to figure out less primitive ways than shitting up a thread. Posters who aren't retarded know to contribute back, so most of these "legitimate no results" people are liars or shitters regardless.

I don't have much sympathy for anyone who does this kind of shit, especially when they expect it to be handed to them on a platter.

You could just track all the manga you read and what chapter you get to.

I have a nice Excel spreadsheet of all the manga I read. It's really useful, you can track the chapter you stopped on, give it a rating and short synopsis, and keep up with release dates of next chapters.
