Not really.
There's a bunch of flashback scenes as usual, but the main plot happens right before the proper story: Mutta working in the sticks for his car company (best part of the movie and best brother as usual), Hibito starting at NASA under Brian Jay until the accident.

It's basically a prequel that leads up to where the series starts. Seeing Brian Jay train Hibito and Mutta's earnestness and innovation back at his old car company was nice too but it felt like a long OVA rather than a movie.

I'd love a season 2.

I liked the flashback scenes of him designing that futuristic window pane thing in the series while he was at the car company.
