La meg gjette. Hele oversettelsen er engelsk->norsk og dette var ikke oversatt i den engelske? Hvorfor er forresten tittelen engelsk på en japansk film i Norge? Tror jeg står over takk.

STOP WATCHING ANIME
>>
Aired in the UK a while ago pretty much in each 'large' city, there were even adverts for it on the underground. We also got Koe no Katachi aired in quite a few places, (Bristol bath reading, Scotland). Maybe it's a good thing England has so many weebs.

I went there today. Not quite the masterpiece I was expecting. A solid 7/10, but I was a bit tired and my head hurt a bit and I was at the side so didn't see it straight ahead so if I go again I may enjoy it more, when I feel better.
>>
>>156329064
Same in Finland, went today to watch
>>
Cake Mitsuha also stares at her hand where Taki wrote
>>
Can't wait for BDrips for a rewatch so I can enjoy the movie without mouthbreathing neckbeards and fujo hambeasts near me.

Movie was amazing, Shinkai does it again. Does anyone know who animated the scene after Taki drinks the sake? Best part of the movie visually.

The first time I saw it and before I looked at the threads on here, I thought that the whole "meteor" part was inspired by the Chelyabinsk event, since that also happened in 2013, rather than the 2011 earthquake. Anyone else get that?

>>156329064

I was happy with the translation. Often, the translators are completely incompetent at the Norwegian language, but here they showed mastery of their own language which is rare.
I liked the way they did the watashi-boku-ore thing. They could have gone the "I ([tlnote])-I ([tlnote])-I ([tlnote]) path, but instead they actually used different words for "sorry" with different gendering values. You generally can't expect translators to understand subtle nuances in language like that, it was better than expected.
>>
I picked up a poster from the desucon people, and now it's wet. Could blame the rain but it's probably tears.
>>
>>156339810

Agreed. The handling of katawaredoki was good too.
>>
>>156339990
Now I'm interested. Any norwayfag willing to explain how this worked to someone who has no knowledge of Norwegian?
>>
>>156339990
I don't remember that, what happened? I'm no expert in Japanese.

>>156340206
You can tell people you are sorry in many different ways. Some are more beta or feminine, and some are rude and more masculine. For example (don't remember exactly how they did it but) first she could say "jeg er lei for det" then maybe "unnskyld" and then "sorry" which is the rudest and most masculine way to say it.
>>
>>156340600
That's pretty cool. I'm pretty interested in what they did for kataware-doki, too - that one barely translated to English in the dub.
>>
>>156341069
I looked it up now, but I do not at all know Japanese so I don't really know what they had to work with. So I'm basing my understanding of the Japanese version off a MAL thread.

They listed a bunch of different words for the end of the day, dusk, and explained that it was the time when ghosts or otherworthly creatures could appear or something.
I think they used the word "avdagstid", which is an obscure word that I don't really hear in real life. I don't really remember, or understand the original, so other anon please explain
>>
>>156341764
Sounds about right, from what I know about Japanese. Does "avdagstid" have kind of supernatural connotations or anything?
>>
>>156341764
>>156341883

Didn't they use "tussmørke" at some point, too, or am I misremembering?

Tussmørke definitely has a supernatural feel. It literally means something like "troll darkness".
>>
>>156341883
I don't know, I never heard the word before today. Doesn't mention it in google. The form "avdagstid" is super rare, but the verb form "avdagast" is more common. There is also "avdagsbel" which means the same.
I think they may have used a different word with supernatural connotations in the teacher sequence though. I don't remember.
>>
>>156342033
De brukte "skumringsstund" tror jeg
>>
>>156336755
This OP. How?
>>
>>156335812
That song is hype as fuck. I really liked the English version.
