The first episode was extremely hard to watch. It's still pretty bad but it's becoming my guilty pleasure watch of the season.

Some of the things that happen are really weird watching in an anime format though.
Take for instance in the last episode where they were surrounded by troops and the trap door was found. All the heroes escaped into it and then went full on casual and relaxed at the bottom of the ladder. No concern given about the troops above them.

They could do the Empire arc in three, maybe even two cours. They could get through Golonzo in one cour, and then beat YgguMalice at the end of S2. Though there's no real reason to have that second part take so long, nor does Agastia and afterwards need to take a whole cour either, but combining them might rush things too much. Pretty much everything after chapter 40 or so.

I liked the resolution of Orchid's story or Eugen's fate episode. His fate episode was really touching and definitely makes him the best dad with the story about how he got the coat.

The issue is that because of how game works(your power being calculated by the weapons you farmed) you can't make a truly broken character...unless you give them godly utility, Summer Zoi comes with

>A skill that brings your party's HP to 1, gives them all a damage barrier that makes them immortal for the next enemy attack and a 4-turn hp regen

Now add the fact that dark element(summer Zoi's element) has acess to a weapon that increases everyone's attack the lower their HP is
AND consider that there is an absolutely garbage character in the game that can use a damage nuke that will kill him if he uses it at full power
Combination of all that made it so that when Zoi came out, the combation of her and said garbage character could deal fuckhuge damage to bosses in Guild war event(basicly a damage race). In the long run she was "nerfed" by having GW bosses resist all elements except the one they are weak to and by making the new kind of bosses, called Xeno, also resist elements
While this change only really affects the endgame(and not all aspects of it since HL level raids weren't changed) this really made people hate her
Fun fact: Zoi won't kill everything like that straight out of the gate, you need to actually work on your weapon grid to maximize the effect of low hp=high attack
