I prefer a clean view of all the important points, such as hair, general height, and key accessories like hairbands or tattoos. A back view is useful if there's something there that I can't infer with a front or 3/4 view. Such as a special hairstyle or hairband or unique coat. Expressions charts are good flavor. That's about it. I don't care if it's official or fanmade. If it looks clean and does the job, it doesn't fucking matter at all to me.

Requests involving unique or different outfits can be put into the ref as a singular image and that's fine with me. If all the info I need is in one ref image, that's the most ideal. But cluttered refs are hard to look at. I guess there's some balance and compromise to be had. Imgur albums are - Well I'm too lazy to click on them usually. But they're not bad to have when they exist, I know I've drawn inspiration from them before. So not bad to have, but usually isn't going to decide if I want to draw it.

Lastly, a request that's worded in such a way that inspires me is the best. But I can't tell you how to do that, because I don't know what actually inspires me to pick up the pen.
