People are probably more interested in already typeset scans rather than text translation next to raws. The fact that most of the websites hosting MiA stop at chapter 4 with lackluster translations probably isn't helping to gather interest at all. I don't think you'll notice a particular increase in activity until the anime happens at least. Imo, it's fine, reminds me of the Helck threads when rello was active.

Events follow each other and it doesn't stop to overtly highlight anything trying to add poignance, doesn't majorly fuck up or deviate from the core narrative conceit and exploits no real gimmicks like powerlevels or the hierarchy or whatever. It feels like something you read and enjoy but not really by talking about it at length.

They might not go out of their way to harm them but the manga seems pretty firm on the point that people who want to get to the bottom of the abyss are fucked in the head in some way or another including the protagonists.
My personal ideathat I came up with while high as a kiteis that the abyss is an allegory for death and therefore is the "only unexplored place in the world" with the world standing in for the human condition and knowledge, so the setting proposes some kind of philosophical future where we know mostly everything about ourselves except the one thing we can't know no matter what.
Yeah, it's silly and obvious but I like how it fits. The whole 2000-year cosmic thingy and how it is handled will be the thing that reveals what the overarching theme around the setting and plot is, I guess.

I have a feeling most of the white whistles understand the 2k cycle is coming to an end, hence their own descents. Even Bondrewd talks about it during his final fight. There's not much point in returning to the surface if you're an abyss fanatic and the abyss is about to complete a cycle. They'd rather die knowing the truth then watch it disappear.

I think it's interesting in the sense that with such a fast pacing and nonchalant beats it manages to keep the suspense of what the hell will be down in the next level/at the bottom and the grander mystery of the Abyss. The art and general setting contributes a lot to this since you know the guy can come up with some pretty great stuff, and he even puts out the encyclopedia-style tidbits about things.
Other than that, the art alone is reason enough for me to enjoy it.

I don't think it'd be unwise. Redoing the first 4 chapters allows you to redefine all the terms of the series to be completely in line with the current translation. It also would create a lower barrier of entry for new readers, cine the first four chapters, as they are, are super hard to actually read

It's not really that heavy. Publicity from when it was 90% RAW kinda exaggerated that aspect.

Your text is too much to the left for some reason. You have to center the text in the space you have, not in the space you would have if the bubble was not cut. Also center it vertically.
I forgot to say this, but I usually use 12 points for the title.

What do you need guides for? Just select the text layer, then press v, then move the text with the arrow keys on your keyboard.
The text in the second bubble is too high.
When I find skinny bubbles like the 1st one from the 6th panel, I usually use a 2px stroke around the text and make it a little big bigger. It doesn't matter if it overlaps with the bubble's edges a little bit.

Yes, that's good, but you don't need to go to such extremes. As for the sfx, typeset it only if you have the translation, if it's easy to redraw and if it makes sense in English. If it's hard to redraw, just use wild words and write something like
SFX: crack
near the panel where the sfx is.
Characters also talk in handwritten font sometimes, like Riko is doing here. Can you see how wide the space is between the lines? Sometimes you need to manually make that smaller. In this case it looks good, though.

I decided to give it a try as well (mainly because I wanted to learn how to typeset). I have never typeset before and I followed the guide someone posted earlier. Did two random pages from chapter 30. Page 1 and 4.
Please do point out any mistakes or things that could use changing. I chose 4 mainly so I could try some redrawing. I think it looks okay.
Wasn't sure how to handle text poking out of speech bubbles since I didn't want to lower the font size. I dislike it when the font is so tiny you have trouble reading it.

Just put the punctuation in its separate line.
Why did you start typesetting in lowercase and then switched to uppercase? Use lowercase all the way through. Also, if your text's aliasing set to smooth? If not, it should.
In that second image you have definitely overdone the text out of the bubble thing. That should be done for skinny bubbles and it should be an exception you do every now and then, not the norm.
Using lowercase will allow you to fit more text in the bubble.
Is it me or have you modified the leading of your text? Maybe I'm too used to ww lower, but that looks a bit cramped together.

Yes. content aware fill is also kinda useful, but you need to make a copy of your background just in case you fuck up.
I normally use the clone stamp tool for the rough texture of a zone and then the healing brush for the smooth transition between different parts. Keep in mind that the healing brugh has 2 modes, one that is automatic and one that is "manual" and resembles the clone stamp tool. I use the one that is "manual" so to speak because it gives far better results.

Using augie for the haa's is good, but be careful when using it for the text. I'm looking at the raws and the text "it's a pretty long fall" is not written in handwritten text, so change that one to wild words lower.

Split the text from "it's a pretty long fall". Giving text a light stroke and making it leave the bubble is not an option here since the bubble is wide.

Yes. It was a big pain for me. view > snap (or maybe it was "snap to", I don't remember)
But it shouldn't be that much of a problem since you want to use your arrow keys to properly center text.

I have another issue the translation goes

Normally, you can switch bubbles if they're in the same panel and it makes more sense into English. The problem here is that the first bubble is that big because the text in it has a bigger punch to it. Write it in the original order:
"Don't stay in the deep, if you don't want to kill those who wait for you."

And also use blah blah bold for the part in brackets. And use the quotation marks, since you can't really ignore them here like you could in >>156288795
