It's really unpredictable. Those old figures are pricey because they're from before the market took off. Nowadays, although limited, production runs are much larger. So random cheap figure is unlikely to blow up in price. The people who want it just buy it and there are enough then floating around to satisfy the market. The figs that have huge return are either exclusives that are even more limited and required a proxy to get (still not a guarantee of return even then) or figures that are for manga/light novels that later get an anime that blows up in popularity. You also kind of need there to not be many alternative figures to keep demand for that one fig high. WING's Hana from Prison School is a good example. $100ish figure pre-anime that now goes for $400ish at retailers. The problem is none of this is very predictable. Stuff like the market being flooded for a popular character (Rem) can depress prices and a rerelease could tank your figure's value at any time. It's not that you couldn't make money if you were good at it, but that's true of most investments. Figs certainly aren't a no-brainer investment.

That said if you're a collector and just want to recoup some marginal value down the line figs are fine. Most retain at least some value.

As far as nubs go, I definitely see some on the bottom wings and I think the vag00 guard too. Revisit everywhere the pieces were attached to the sprues and make sure there's nothing sticking out. Take sandpaper to it if you need to. Also, read some guides.

No. But if you have it on an open shelf you'll need to dust it more frequently. A glass cabinet can greatly reduce or even mostly eliminate the need to dust.

Leaving a PVC fig dusty for too long can hurt it's condition as plasticizers from the plastic can make the dust adhere to the figure.

We've gone over this in every single thread. Get a cheap hg Gundam kit and model building tools. If you can make that look good, you may be able to handle a FAG since they need a little more effort than that.

Is it your first model kit? If it is just don't. Hamburger isn't hard but she's a lot of work, kind of daunting for a first timer.

Past that, promo kits are painted and have their seams glues. OOB you'll have more gaps between pieces and a few smaller bits may not be as detailed color-wise. You'll also have to apply a few decals but those aren't hard.

All in all you'll get fairly close but it won't look quite as good.

Well, if you're going to build models, you're going to need the tools. You don't have to get expensive godhand nippers and top of the line tools, but if you try to build Hamburger with nail clippers and 80-grit sandpaper it's going to look like crap.

You should be able to get a pair of xuron flush cutters, needle files, a decent hobby knife, and a marker for panel lining for under $40 at a local hobby shop.

Depends on the figure and the dustiness of your place, but usually we're talking years to do permanent damage. Even if you aren't keeping them spotless at all times dusting a couple times a year will at least prevent you from fucking them up.

I wouldn't recommend that unless you have money to blow. Try starting off with some panel washes or a bit of hand painting to see if you actually care to continue. Worst case you can strip off everything and start over.
