I'm quite liking it each episode, from start to finish. OP has a great sense of variety and energy to it, while the ED hints at the more substantial elements.

But I can't grow up to enjoy it, mostly because I know it will be a mere 12 episodes. With that in mind I just can't look foward for it.

As I posted before, I made initial drafts of my Pencil.
She's rather plain looking in terms of clothing for now, hadn't really thought of how some of the details and patterns will look like yet(probably geometrical figures and lines).

I'm currently on "figuring out the feel of the character" phase. So, things are bound to change. Braid: yay or nay(I think I like it)?

Making it a a carpenter's pencil is simply a stylistical and a bit more logical choice.

In terms of character I imagine her being pretty calm and/or laid back, with a pretty blunt way of talking to people, but easy to crack under pressure. Also, gets somewhat jealous if you use any other pencil or pen to draw/write.

I'd say we have an agreement when it comes to hair color(it's just not filled on the drawing) and character(with a twist though, as stated above). However, I think a late-teen/early-adult is something I'd have a better time designing.
The character is based of a pencil a craftsman would use, that's why the outfit or demeanor isn't very elegant. Maybe I'll make an alternative version later I guess.

Since it's a pencil you could usebinary color scheme like those orange/black colored pencils, also de sharpened part has that zigzag form you could use it at the end or start of the sleeves, the wood to graphite color - light color to black, and the metal part that holds the eraser could be a choker or bracelet.

I was really surprised at how good the anime is.
No QUALITY, Jigoku Shoujo/Naruto composer, relatively good animation and pretty spot - on voice actors.
Normal pacing as well.
If it turns out as lewd as the manga it's perfect.

The anime seems OK other than some poor character designs and some shitty cg. Character designs were always going to suffer moving to animation though unless some big studio took it.

Take brush tsugumomo from Mayoiga as example(the one just below granpa bowl).
Give her blonde/orangish hair with black tips, plus a beret resembling the eraser most pencils have.
Also take in mind tsugumomos in the manga wear like that because theyre in Japan. So you should dress your pencil with clothes according to whatever was trending 100 years ago in your country.
Personality wise, since she gets upset/jealous when you use another pencil/brush a yandere might suit her better.
