Fuck off. It being your first anime does not make it the greatest. DBZ is objectively shit.

There's no such thing as THE greatest anime, because different genres will appeal to different people. The only way to measure it would be to compare popularity while keeping the amount of people that dislike the anime in the equation.

Naturally we all know that popular doesn't necessarily mean good and that there simply aren't enough statistics on the subject. However if you had to guess with these things in mind, Code Geass and One Piece probably makes the most sense.

Not that I personally find these two to be masterpieces, I find that there are much better anime out there. It's just, from the majority's point of view, the probably best anime there is.

Without a doubt Sword Art Online. Compelling and unique story, exciting characters, good story progression that covers most points. It has all the necessary fan service and web service with an easy introduction to the normie crowd and was even rewarded a successful movie.we also can't forget it has best girl asuna since y'all spurgs are probably only going to choose a movie based off that. It's easily a contender for greatest of all time.
