Well I guess I'll have to say it; the shitty rushed ending of Bleach. I recently re-read it and the ending got me all flustered all over again.

It wasn't the greatest story ever told, but it deserved better than the final battle it got and BS wrap up chapter. We never even got to see what Ichigo could really do with his new swords and full access to all his powers after not seeing him in action for 3/4 of the finsl arc.

We also never found out what happened to a lot of the major characters after the final boss. Did urahara make it? What about yoruichi? Wtf happened with my personal favorite Isshin?? Who the fuck became the new soul king???

Not even a shipper, but I firmly believe that the only reason orihime won the ichibowl was because kubo was pissed they wouldnt let him wrap things up properly and did it as a big fuck you to everyone. All the signs pointed to ichigo being more interested in rukia throughout the series, orihime was in love with him but he showed virtually no interest in her at all. A platonic overall ending where he didnt wind up with either of them but wound up being a shinigami and doing shinigami things would have been best, or even if ichigo had to sac himself to be the new soul king, but no, we got lazy pairings and shitty kids instead.

First of all, I barely even care that much about the other girls, my point was just that they would've been better partners in every way and made for a more constructive relationship considering Ryuuji was roughly on the same level as them in terms of flaws. Ryuuji could help them better themselves and vice versa, but they wouldn't be so helpless that he'd have to elope with them to escape their shitty lives. They both had places they wanted to go in life. That probably wouldn't suit the narrative, it might not have been as compelling a story to many, but it probably would've been better for all of them.

However, I AM bitter about the way anime like this appeal to savior complexes and glorify unhealthy dependent mindsets. You can say that it's just a silly teen romcom at the end of the day, but the idea that it's held up as some kind of insightful story of love and romance is fucking absurd.
