And in building romance the most important element is to have chemistry between characters, and Mei and Iida has already demonstrated how their personalities work off each other, so that's what makes people consider them as a prospect, not whether they've shown affection for each other.

heres my thoughts:
1.deku and ochako are the first male and female to talk in the series save for dekumom.
2. ochako has been getting pretty flustered lately when people question her about deku
3. ochako is seen talking to deku more than any other male character in the series
4. deku is seen talking to ochako more than any other female character in the series.
5. finally, deku and ochako are the only realistic pairing mentioned in the manga by other people, nobody ever questions tsuyu or yaoyorozu about whether they like deku or anyone else.
the only exception is when someone asks ochako whether its "deku or lida" at which point she immediately focuses on the inclusion of deku and pays lida no mind.
so yeah, they have way more chemistry than anyone else in the series.

ochako hasn't really had opportunity to be developed as a character much. All we really know at the moment is that she makes things float, she definitely has some kind of interest in deku. there are a few things we know about her but for the most part she hasn't really been given a full depth of character yet. I don't think she's bad, i think that we need to wait for a more expansive arc for her before we get into the whole ochako is shit argument.

Well, this is me, but I think he actually really doesn't care. He doesn't really react a lot when people call him names, like when Tetsu4 called him a bastard or Kirishima called him "Basty Mcsploud".

To be honest, I don't see why people get hang up on the "childhood friends" part. They probably hang out together for maybe a year or two, but then Deku was revealed to be quirkless like at 4? I think, and then the bullying started. 2-3 years of friendship doesnt compare to 10 years of bullying. Hell, Deku has been bullied more than he has not, he's only 15 years old.
