Kind of all three. FLCL managed to do a hell of a lot in just 6 episodes. At its core it was about growing up. There were a lot of themes dealing with this, like role reversal between parent and child, trying to grow up too fast, and what maturity really means.

I hope not, it's my favorite anime of all time, and damn close to my favorite piece of media as well.

Recapturing the pure magic of the original is going to be impossible, full stop; But if it's anywhere within the ballpark I think it'll be worth a watch.
I'm probably not as pessimistic as I should be, so hopefully the potential broken heart won't kill me.

People talking about STEEL/Original Angels is one of my least favorite things to discuss in Evangelion instead of the characters. I feel like they just have this thing but intentionally don't do anything with it, and I really like that
