I'm 13 episodes into Azumanga and it's starting to feel like every episode is centering around how much of a massive piece of shit Tomo is.

Which isn't particularly entertaining when Tomo has zero redeeming qualities and nobody likes her but they still hang out with her anyway for some reason.
