Let's compare both character you pointed out.
Deku and Beru are both "losers" in their series in the start. Both receive a gift from outside that makes them grow up faster and become something big. The problem is that while Deku had to suffer a bit, then show determination then start working and only then receive his gift, Beru only had to suffer for one episode and then just evolved naturally and very fast. Hestia even points to the viewer that he has something special going for him since the beginning when analyzing his skills.

Between loser and the double match where he defeats Bakugo's team it was a long time and a lot of struggling.
Between Beru being saved from the minotaur and defeating the minotaur was a very fast evolution.

I actually just watched this series for the second or third time on Hulu (bored). Many of the negative points made in this thread are valid. I will say though after binge watching A Certain Magical Index that I found this series much more interesting. No clue why that series got seasons and some specials plus movie.
