But also, Lain is both popular and unpopular in /a/ but it's really popular on /g/, but they never discuss about anime either way.
It's really hard to understand /a/ these days, definitely the presidential elections changed it a little bit since those 500 posts on Yuri on Ice and seeing those website hoppers from Tumblr ain't normal.

I have a dream that one day all of /a/ will drop at least one entire season to appreciate all the recommendations in the /a/ wiki that most of /a/ hasn't even heard of them.
It will be the revival of the golden age of /a/, waifu wednesday gets a revival and we have the whole board peace.

in all reality, I'm not sure how I got to the end the first time through, but I'm so glad I did, because Now when I rewatch it, I really can enjoy all of it, from the slow burn to the big, tragic ending.

I really feel that the sparse OST is something people don't talk about enough, because Lux wouldn't feel half as visceral, as hollow, as burned out without some dude banging on the side of an acoustic guitar, and maybe playing a string or two every now and then (as I like to joke about it with my brother). The background music really is so vital to the world building of this anime

I personally have watched both dub and sub, and I have mixed feelings about the both of them. I think most of the major roles in the dub actually outperform the VAs of the sub (especially Doc, Onishii, and Kano), which is weird for me, as I'm a 95% of the time sub watcher for shows, but outside of the main characters, the dub voice acting starts to really shit the bed. Whereas for the sub, its much more consistent in voice acting quality, but some of the main characters dont really shine as well. It's really odd, actually. These are just my opinions, however.

Rereading /a/rchive threads about texhnolyze, I found that alot of anons have the interesting opinion that Texhnolyze's overall message is that of the rejection of nihilism.
Personally I disagree, I found the show to completely go for the whole existence is ultimately meaningless and life always comes to an end stance, what exactly is flying over my head?

I found it was more along the lines of you can't force change because everything has to happen according to fate or else everything will go to shit and you'll end up back at the start which is exactly what happened with Kano's attempt to save humanity and force evolution of the species by hibernating their souls as robots even though it was obvious that it wasn't going to work.
Ichise's story seemed more like life is meaningless unless you have something that inspires you to go on, which showed from his rage against swordguy to his admiration for Ran to which after he let go of Ran he chose death as he had nothing to live for.
