How did the Tourny not lose all credibility. That combined with his need to consume souls just to maintain 80% and up it is monkey paw tier wish. I can understand it not being S, there are only 3 of them and are considered myths by most. A class on the other hand is something everybody knows, Youko Kurama is stronger than Toguro and I'm pretty sure Hie was too after absorbing the dragon but was worn out from his fight.

Toguro specifically wanted to fight Yusuke, that was the entire point of the Dark Tournament, it was meant to be a test of two prime fighters, but Genkai couldn't due to her age and some other shit so she passed everything she could to Yusuke to take her stead to prove humanity's true strength.

Too bad Yusuke was a demon in the end anyway so that was kind of redundant

The Dark hand tournament arc is the best of the series. Which is what OP is about to get into. After that its not worth continuing. Even cartoon network stopped airing the show after that.

- Dark hand tournament arc that ends around ep 65.
- is a fast paced shonen that ends and concludes the entire story after 120 episodes.
- good character developement of a deliquent hero.

- weak start (it was supposed to be a paranormal mystery series but the first arc tanks and so the whole show was retooled)
- gets weak again after dark hand tourney, but fortunately the last arc wraps up the story.
- can be real ass pulley at times with winning battles.
