Is chuunibyou akin to autism?

Considering how well "chuuni" series (Fate, Hellsing, Drifters) sell, it's has a wider appeal than autism.

Yes, all chuuni characters are also autistic.
>>155902482
Yes but who does it better?

>chuuni is a genre
What?

I used it as an adjective. A chuuni requires two things: ability to self insert and powerlevels.

You posted a (cute) example of an autistic chuuni. There, you have your answer.
Meme use of autism? Yes. Real one? Probably, they shared some characteristic but other mental illnesses also have chuuni stuff.

Severe Japanese autism which manifests as hipsterism, Emos and magical eyepatch retards
>A Japanese slang term which roughly translates to "Middle School 2nd Year Syndrome". People with chuunibyou either act like a know-it-all adult and look down on real ones, or believe they have special powers unlike others.
>This is a common stage in growth; for most people, it happens--you guessed it--around the 2nd year of middle school (Grade 8 in Japan). However, the problem is, there are some grown-ups who have this symptom.
There are 3 main types of Chuunibyou. DQN-type pretends to be antisocial even though they aren't, or can't be and has made-up stories about antisocial behavior. Subculture-type prefers subculture or minor trends just to be different and have the "cool" factor. Evil Eye-Type admires mystical powers and pretends to have one of their own, to the extent of establishing an alias just for that.

In that aspect, Megameme is a pretty good take on the chuunibyou character, considering she has special powers but still tries to act cool.

It could be a genre if 'shounen' is a genre.

A character that a chuuni would pretend to be being a chuuni is a pretty funny character
Yunyun is not

No, it's a stage people go through in their tweens where they want to be special and probably more pronounced in Japan because it's a far more conformist society than the West.
If they never grow out of it, then it's probably a sign of mental dysfunction of some sort.
