I felt that they introduced the new apostles a little too fast. So many new cool dudes and dudetes and barely seeing their powers besides a short backstory given in the form of exposition.

I'd prefer a more in depth presentation but seeing how frantic the pacing is, I highly doubt it can happen.

The episode was alright, but the struggle of Guts to survive and protect Casca fell flat. The manga scene was so intense, you could see the tension in the air. And they left out that quote of Guts saying "have I always swung a sword so heavy?" (paraphrasing it).

I've finally warmed up to this adaption, the CGI, and music. It's everything I could ever hope to realistically expect for Berserk. I still feel bad the the mouth-breather anime fags, though. CGI isn't really improving, it's just not as bad as the first couple of episodes.
Even using CGI it feels like it relies on stills and shots with minimal movement just as much as the 1997 anime did.
3D Animation is still stilted and so is the action which isn't helped by the confusing and poor camera direction and cutting.
2D is just as bad when it's not just stills.

Clangs are still present and Guts rather jarringly sounds like what I think is a catapult all the time.

Not that it's particularly bothering me, but they're speeding up the pace of coverage.

The scene shown in this episode, the takeover of the fortress in Shet (west Midland), where Zodd, Grunbeld, Locus and everyone kneeled to Griffith (which is feature din the OP); and Sonia and other midlanders are rescued was presented in the last two episodes without resolution. They chose to put it in this third episode, where another similar scene would be present (battle in the fields of Lumias, Mule's fiefdom). The previous happened before Serpico and Farnese's flashback in the manga.

Not that it really hampers the pace or the flow of the story arc, but there was at least a short period of time between Sonia getting rescued and becoming Griffith's medium. I can see why they did it, and it's a good place to move these events, specially when they wanted to dedicate a whole episode to Griffith, but well, manga autists will certainly take notice.

I liked most of the neo-hawk intros. Irvine and Locus have some nice color schemes, a bit similar maybe. Grunbeld was clanging his shield so there was that. Not a fan of his weed eyes, Zodd already has that, and it's his hair that's supposed to be blazing red.

The moment they meet the demon army in the forest clearing and they show their silhouettes hand drawn was probably the best and quite faithful to the manga. Then they went back to CG garbage again. They unfortunately omitted the comic relief between Sonia, the apostle and Grunbeld. Grunbeld also didn't acknowledge Irvine's presence in his thoughts, as him being there and putting an arrow in one of his men sort of caught him by surprise (and was his name introduction in the manga).

Didn't like the scene and angle they chose to go with behind Irvine while Grunbeld was disciplining the apostle.

And the knights and horses in Locus's company are so much more detailed in the manga. Each knight looks super unique (pic related).
